Anyone else marrying on a Friday?

We're marrying 5 August 2011 as the Sat was already booked at our favorite venue. Some people have been really positive about it - saying its a good excuse for a long weekend. Others have been a bit annoyed about having to take holiday.

We sent out Save the Date cards at Christmas so they have all had plenty of notice!

I just wondered if other people were in the same position.

We deliberately chose a Friday (30th Sept 2011) so that we could weed out the ones annoyed about having to take holiday...

We figure that if that's their attitude, then they're not real friends so can sod off... great way to cut numbers (we're way over!!).

My fiancee is a teacher so we only have limited dates that we can marry and then go on honeymoon afterwards. Its crazy - we booked our venue in November last year and lots of the ones we looked at were already full!

I like your attitude about the guest list though - hadn't thought of it like that!

That's tough when you're restricted on dates, but as long as you're happy then that's all that counts. Have you ever been to a Friday wedding? My friends married on a Friday last year, and it was wicked - had such a good long weekend, made it really special.

I think people forget that it's an honour to be invited to a wedding and that it costs the bride and groom a lot of money - if you can, try not to let them make you feel guilty about it. Your day, your choices!!

I'd heard that they can be fun if people get in the spirit! I suppose I just have to think that if they want to come, they'll take the day off, and if not, well nevermind!

I'll have my fingers crossed that you get invited to a Friday wedding before your big day - I guarantee it'll completely bring you round to the idea!!

Seriously don't let the ones not fussed enough to take a day off bother you - they're really not worth it!! And - they're missing out!!

We're getting married on a Friday...26th August 2011. Its the Bank Holiday weekend so it will be a nice long weekend for everyone.

People who complain about having to take a day off work aren't worth it....seriously I know what i'd sooner be doing..work or a fabulous wedding??..it's a no brainer for me!!

We're planning on a Friday wedding too! We are also going to Gretna, from Yorkshire - we have told everyone already and they have all been fab! Only 1 person has said no but has a genuinely good reason - that was exactly our reasoning - if they cant be bothered taking 1 day off, then don't bother coming xxx

cooeeeee another friday bride here:-)i agree totally with all this sentiment:-)ironically the only person who has moaned about us getting married on a fri is a uni friend who is a teacher but we're getting married ethni the easter hols so why it made any difference i have absolutely no idea.i just ignored it.dont let it get to you,there's one rule when it comes to your day and thats our day,our way.if people dont like it,sod them,you'll be too busy having fun with all ur guests who have been honoured to accept ur generosity in inviting them.iwent to two weddings on a fri last year and they were fab.it means u still have a bit of a weekend after the wedding :-)i loved them x

I honestly don't give a damn what anyone else thinks about us chosing a Friday, they aren't paying - we are!

I'm getting married on a Friday because the venue we fell in love with had no suitable Saturdays available. Hasn't been a problem so far - as a teacher, many of my friends work in school and it's in the summer holidays... I've been to a Friday wedding and am going to another this year. Friday is the new Saturday!!! : )
