Hey girls,

I had my first dress fitting yesterday. Before the appointment I was so excited to see my dress after 6 long months, and was also nervous wondering whether they'd ordered the correct dress, size, length, etc.

When the assistant brought my dress out I thought it looked just as beautiful as I'd remembered it, and I liked it just as much. I put it on and it fit quite well, the length was really perfect and it only needed taking in about 2 inches all the way down. But somehow I couldn't help feeling slightly bad. I thought the dress was as beautiful as ever...... but I didn't look as nice in it as before. Maybe it was the fact that it was slightly loose, but it seemed that my waist looked much less defined than in the sample, and the bust area was far too large and very wrinkly. Maybe I was building myself up too much for the first fitting?

I still love the dress, I still think it's "the one", and I am certainly not thinking about changing my mind....... yet I just feel deflated somehow. Has anybody else felt this way?

I am going back for a second fitting next Thursday so I'll post more pics after that. x

oh honey I'm sorry you feel deflated but I am sure its just because it didn't fit perfectly. Once its fully fitted I'm sure your waist will be more defined etc. Look forward to seeing the pics - chin up sweetie xx

I feel your pain hun, When i tried the sample on it was a size 8 (i was a 16 at the time) and they pulled it in so tight that it gave me this gorgeous little waist.
As i was dieting i ordered it in a 14 and when i got my dress in i was so excited, I got home and i put it on, looked in the mirror......and hated what i saw, That tiny waist wasnt there and the dress was too big for me, i felt like a frump!

I had my dress altered and when i went to try it on i fell in love all over again, Even before the laces were pulled in it gave me the little waist that i wanted!!

Dont stress yourself out over it, Wait until you have had it altered and then see how you feel, you may find that you did what i did and fall in love again!!

I am dreading my 1st sitting on 3rd April! My dress is a us6 which is an 8 here but atm I am a size 10! ARGH x

thanks so much, i am looking forward to the 2nd fitting now after your replies, maybe it will look much better when it's properly fitted.

i am a UK size 6 and the sample dress i originally tried on was a 12. funnily enough that looked good on me because they pulled it in and pinned it to flatter my figure, but my dress which is a 6 just hangs a bit differently. anyway i'll see next week when it's been taken in a bit.

I felt like that when my dress arrived in the shop! It was the week after Xmas, so I had overindulged a litle bit! But it just wasn't how I'd remembered it and didn't look as good as the sample had done.

I then went back two weeks ago to have my first fitting and I was dreading going back in case I still didn't feel right in it! However all was fine and I fell in love with all over again! I had lost a few pounds, but she was able to pull the corset back in tighter than previously. Apparently its really hard to do when they're brand new.

Hopefully you'll feel the same way too!

I could have written almost the EXACT SAME THING after my fitting yesterday! I think it's just because 1) the bodice is still too big for me and the straps too long which made it not sit right, 2) I had on no bra and the cups haven't been sewn into the bodice yet, meaning it flattened me a little; 3) mine actually needs taken in on the waist to define me properly. I still love my dress though.

When it's altered to you all these will be corrected. Or so I'm telling myself!

Im sure when you've had all your appointments it will look lovely. What dress have you gone for?

i know it's silly but i am so upset with how it looks

That dress seriously needs taking in!! I felt the same about mine - no defined waist as it wasn't tight enough, and baggy at the boobs too! I'm sure you're will be fine once the alterations are done. I'm going for my second fitting this weekend so hoping that all will be fine with mine too! xx

It is strange how a 12 pinned back looks different to a 6?!

Have you told the shop how you feel? If so what have they said? Im sure it will look lovely when they take it in. x x

hey hun,

as you helped me with my decisions thought i would try and help you to.

I'm confused as to why the sample size 12 (i know its pinned) seems to fit better than the size 6 which should be waaaay smaller. I think it will look a whole lot better when its been fitted to you though. Also in you first pic you seem to have a brilliant tan and in the other pics a little paler (as we all are at this time of year!) maybe the tan made a difference to?

Hope your second fitting makes you feel a whole lot better as the dress is stunning! xxx
