Hi Ladies,

just wondering if anyone is going to Egypt and if so where are you staying. Me and H2B have been twice before so know we like it and are thinking its a pretty safe bet for our honeymoon. Sun, sea, sand and all that jazz!

Hiya, we're going to Sharm El Sheikh at the end of June. We've never been and I can't wait! have you ever had a stomach bug when you've been before? that's the only bad feedback I've heard, but we'll just have to be careful with the water

Are you thinking Sharm? or somewhere else in Egypt x

yes we both had terrible jelly belly both times. It's not so much to do with the water, we only drank botteld water but still got it! it's the extreme heat during the day and the fact that people get ill and still get in the pool!

We went to sharm the first time and Nuwieba to second time. Nuwieba was particularly awful. We stayed at the Hilton and service was rubbish!

My mum and i went on a nile crusie and thats the only time in Egypt i didn't get jelly belly! G x

the first time we went it was September and it was seriously hot. my fiance and i both tan well but he got severely burnt half way through the holiday and had to stay in the shade. the second time we went was october and it was a bit cooler. i went down the nile in August and the heat was too much. you could literally feel your skin cooking and stood in the sun. use a very high factor sun block on those kiddies!

please don't think it's terrible though. we love it, it's just not the sort of heat you get in the UK so can come as a bit of a shock. x

Hiya

Im egyptian, and go there every year (but not honeymooning there due to overkill!). Its a great country.. sharm el sheikh is fun and lively PROVIDING you stay at a decent hotel. Egypt 5* standards arent really ours! The only honeymoon hotels i would consider as ive literally stayed in most hotels.. is Four Seasons #1, Royal Savoy Wing (not the savoy), The regency Suite at the Hyatt Regency. These are the top notch hotels. As for deli belly... each year i take my friends and FORCE them to stick to the following mantra!: this is not an eating holiday, i.e we arent here to try the delights as you will get sick!! stick to carby food, pasta, bread, potato, noodles, pizza- avoid creamy sauces like the plague, avoid salads and any fruit thats washed- avoid dairy like the plague- stick to junk and you will be fine (its not ideal but it works). Dont bother taking immodium as it doesnt work with egyptian belly- istead by antinal from Egypt if u get the dreaded belly! Let me know if you have any more questions!!!

Mrs Neo so glad you said 4 seasons is nice!!! Anyone else going this aug? Im too a bit worried about jelly belly especially as h2b has definitly NOT got iron stomach anyway!!! When i went to gambia i got an awful belly...like nothing i have EVER experienced and since sweared by immodium, what should we take if imodium doesn't work? EEk! x

Been 5 times to egypt and loved it everytime.; Weather was great, some good hotels , others not so good. Cheap to eat out and drink also. Agree stay in a good branded hotel. I stayed in 5 star and yes it looked 5 star, the pools did etc but staff, service and food wasnt. I ended up with bad food poisoning. I was ill for weeks afterwards. Got tested back in england to confirm it was. Every other time i have been I have never been ill.

Hiya,
I'm getting married in August & we go to Sharm el Sheik for our honeymoon on 2nd Sept for 12 nights. A friend has just been & absolutely loved it, so much so that shes already booked to go back later on this year. We are staying at the Grand Azure resort & I can't wait!
