Subject: Supercharger band?
Hi ladies,

I've read some recommendations on here for supercharger and have seen that other ladies have paid £1000, though I've just been quoted £1200 (travel extra) - wondering what's going on... This would be for 2011 booking...

Also, has anyone seen them live? Their studio recorded demos are good but the real thing can be quite different.

Thanks for your help!!

Hey Littlerascal,

I've only been reading on here for a few days but if I were you I would ignore the recommendations if there from mollymoo who im 99% sure is in supercharger.
Quite funny actually hehe but also quite anoying.
It's the main reason I left the other forum I was on for a few days!

I'd look elsewhere.
I'm not quite at the band stage yet ( in fact I don't have a single thing booked) but I think i will defiantly go and see my band live before spending £1200.
Would you buy a dress, car etc without going to see if first?

OOh very interesting Maz thanks. I found that thread and it is Mollymoo. Also another recommendation from Louise Grant who is the person that emailed me about their bookings!! Damn I've gone off them now!

Thanks for the tip!

He he,
thanks for the compliment but my tunes are strictly limited to the shower!
I'm not connected to Supercharger & not in the band.
Maz24 - It's an all male band and I'm a girl! Having just joined the forum what exactly is your reason for thinking just cause I recommend someone I must be in the company.
I recommend my florist a lot too - but I'm no florist.
I recommend my caterer too - same thing I'm not a caterer either.
Little Rascal -
I've seen them play twice,we saw them before we booked with them and we thought they were brilliant. Saw them the second time, as we'd asked and paid for them to learn another song for our wedding, and we saw them play it live. Again awesome!
We've been dealing with Louise too. She has been our main point of contact and that's why I said they are more proffesional and helpful to deal with than the other bands we initially contacted and some of the agents too.
She has been their booking agent for about 6 weeks.
I have been dealing with them over the last couple of weeks as they’ve been helping us decide on our disco play list. I honestly think they’ve been great to deal with and are an excellent band that's why I keep mentioning them.
I’m recommending the suppliers I have chosen as well as letting other brides know of suppliers in my area who I have been less than impressed with.
I have mentioned Supercharger a bit, but also my florist Charlotte Allen, my caterer Relish.
I seem to be in a constant state of shock about how expensive it is to get married in London so always looking for help on how to get the cost down.
I don't tend to chat on about the little personal things that we are all planning but the big items such as entertainment, food, flowers etc and I find it reading peoples experiences and so I'm doing the same.

Little Rascal - perhaps get in contact with the band and ask why the increase? As it's for next year and not this year, why not just ask them to explain why? Also why not go and see them play and make up your mind?

Cheers
Molly

Hey Mollymoo, thanks for responding. It's so difficult on this site as people are so suspicious of suppliers hacking into threads to plug their companies.

I've been in touch with Louise today and I am impressed with her responsiveness. She's explained the price hike and it's something to do with the agencies they use insisting on them not undercutting them. Good news is that since I'll be supplying my own sound/lighting rig she'll do it for £1k if I book this year. I've got a friend going down to a gig they're doing in London tomorrow night so I hope they are good!

I've actually put your Relish caterer on my caterers list too!

OOH Goody, I'd love to hear what your friend thinks of them too so please pop back and let me know!
Which options are appealing to you more from Relish. I had great fun choosing the canapes.
When are you getting married? We're getting married in Oct this year.

Hi Mollymoo,
I've just received the feedback from my friend for the band. This is what she wrote:
Overall, I thought they were really, really good actually, and if you used them I have no doubt that people would love them (if it's a young crowd as you say it is). They could really make the night, in terms of getting people up and keeping them going.. obviously it will be the beautiful bride who makes the night! You just need to be sure it's the type of band you want ...

So, quick report -
Really good fun and you always wanted to stay to hear what the next song was..
People were dancing all night (we arrived at just before 9pm so it was pretty early still but the dancefloor was rocking - lots of p1ssed people, hilarious).
Their set was great, loads of variety, very current (e.g. kings of leon, razorlight, killers) but with some classics (sweet home alabama, michael jackson).
Every song was a real performance - the band had fantastic energy and the lead singer had great range and power
They were pretty cool - not your typical wedding band
To consider

Very rocky and loud though (god, I sound middle aged!)- need to let you know that to be sure that's what you want! Was difficult to have conversations - so just make sure the wedding venue has other areas people can chat, or i guess just change the output volume (spoke to louise about that and she assured me that volume can be adjusted to suit occasion).
Make sure they dress up smarter (if that's what you want!) - they were scruffy and rocky

So - sounds great! I'm waiting to see what the footage is like and then will probably book. I'll speak to Louise a bit more about the points that Juliet raised though really I like how they are. Just need to think of grandma and grandad!

I haven't really looked at Relish's menu in detail. Food is strictly h2b's domain as I am not 'qualified' enough to make such decisions, so am leaving him to it. We're not getting married until July 2011 so it's still early doors. Well, I say that but it seems that everyone else on here getting married at that time has 90% already organised! eek!

Hi Little Rascal,
Fabulous I'm sure our crowd are going to love them too!
We were told by them that for weddngs they wear black shirts and white ties so I'm going for that as when we saw them they were playing in tshirts so agree with your friends comments that they could be a smarter for the wedding.
Now about Grandma and Grandad, how about providing some personalised wedding ear defenders? Ha ha.

We've decided our canape list that Relish have been really helpful putting together. Their corkage is a bit steep though.
I'm actually getting a bit of relief now as we pretty much seem to be sorted for our wedding. Just a few logistics left to be sorted out. Going to plan a surprise weekend away for me and hubby2b soon as he's been so supportive and wonderful.
How are you getting on?

Yes I'm concerned about corkage too. I'm going to push hard to get rid of it/seriously reduce it though. Sounds like you're super-organised! When is your big day?

Spoke to mum about G&G and she says not to worry they'll probably go to bed early anyway. They're reasonably cool so won't mind the music, it's just the sound levels that might annoy them.

What sort of wedding are you having? Is it a marquee? Where are you holding it? The reason I ask is that most places insist on using their own caterers, I had to hunt high and low for somewhere we could choose ours!

I have booked supercharger for my wedding too. I went to one of there gigs and thought they were absolutly brilliant. There customer service has also been brilliant, always had quick email replies, we chatted to them at the gig and they followed up the next day to see if we enjoyed ourselves. My wedding is next month so I'm happy to give you more feedback after?
I hope this helps and I hope I don't get accused of working for the band. ;\)

Oooh Jenna, thanks for replying! Yes I would love to hear how they go down. Louise has sent me some footage from their latest gig, but it's not professional at all and the sound isn't amazing - I can't tell whether that's because of the sound system, the singer or the recording. It's such a worry as the band can make or break an evening!! Am still waiting to get the recording that my friend made on her iphone!

I agree though, the service has been amazing. I've organised events before with bands and frankly they can be a nightmare. The worst are the ones with prima donna managers! I'm tempted to book them just because of that...

You're right the band are a very important choice so you nned to be 100% happy with your choice. My fiance is so fussy - I thought we would never find a band he was happy with!
I will email you after my wedding - if you haven't heard back from me by mid may that feel free to email me (in case I forget).

Hi Little Rascal,
Yes we're in a marquee at Fulham Palace! How about you?
I'm loving working with a blank canvas I've just ordered some silk ceiling drapes with a soft and pretty lilly pattern to it.
We're getting married in October, loads of people coming from overseas as my H2b is half Australian, my sister lives in Sydney at the moment and I've got friends in Shanghai, South Africa and Auckland who are all coming to the wedding so I'm currently thinking of nice little welcome packs for them to have in their rooms when they arrive.
I'm also trying to track down somewhere I can source local newspapers as I thought it might be a nice idea for them to have their local paper the morning after the wedding tied in bow that matches our theme.
I am sooo getting bogged down in the little details but loving it!
Back to Supercharger, I can only echo Jenna's point of view. Band are totally important, referrals are like gold dust and seeing now that a few people other than me have seen them live and agree they are brilliant makes me worry no more.

Right off to find the papers!
