Why July?

Hi ladies

I just wondered why everyone chose July? I was just reading a post from the December brides forum and thought I couldn't imagine anything worse than getting married near hectic Christmas time, and in the cold! But I know that some people dream of a crisp, cristmasy wedding and that is their perfect weddingl!

We chose it because H2B HATES the cold (think he would have been wed in the desert if he could!) so pray for sun, and also it is exactly inbetween our birthdays so felt nice to spread celebrebrations between the year.

Why July?

In my mind, weddings are summer events with lots of light materials and sunshining, stupid really as we live in this country where a balmy 3 hours on a tuesday in May is as much summer as we get!!

We also have a lot of friends and relatives in education so thats the 2nd weekend of the school holidays.

H2b picked our date it'll be his 40th birthday and he said it'll save having to have an extra party, xx

I work for a football Club and my H2B is a teacher so we are getting married on literally the only day that means we can have a 2 week honeymoon. It is 2 weeks before the football season starts and the day after he breaks up for the summer holidays! xx

For us it was one of the few Saturdays left at our venue and we didn't want to get married any later than September - not very eciting I know x

We picked our date because h2b work holiday starts in June but there was no dates at venue in June so I got the earliest one i could in July lol...

Very excited only 113 days now.

We chose that date cause the venue was free plus it's H2B's birthday 3 days later when we're on honeymoon !!

Start of the school summer hollidays

H2B graduates this year, and I was supposed to too. We decided on July or August, since we wanted to have some time after our exams in May to do last minute wedding stuff, rather than trying to rush around during final exams. My mum's a teacher, and the schools here in Scotland go back mid-August, so we couldn't be any later than that. When we first met with the Chaplain, he told us he takes August off as his holiday, so that left us with July. And once we took into account family holidays, we were left with the 24th.

It's worked out well though - not only is the date 24/7, which should hopefully make it easier for H2B to remember lol, I'm now going back to uni for an extra year to do my Masters, so we're left with 5 weeks after the wedding where we can book our honeymoon (we'll probably book something last minute unless a really good deal comes up) before I go back.

We chose July for the hopefull chance of sun & having everything looking green, trees full of leaves & lots of flowers etc. Plus summer just makes you feel great & we wanted a bbq the day after the wedding with all the close family.

we chose july as hopefully it will lovely warm weather plus we getting married on a historic ship so have a nice breeze, i cant stand the cold and plus we wanted to get married this year soonish as we just are soo excited

I wanted June (from a song in seven brides for seven brothers, my favourite film!) But our venue was all booked up. July was the closest without having to wait another year!

We're both teachers so to be able to have a two-week honeymoon and have some time before the wedding to get organised it had to be July!!
I would have prefered a saturday but venue had none left so Friday it is!
I also just imagined my wedding as a summery event!

my nan and mum both married on there birthday so i thought about that but my mum moans about it all the time and has 'officialy' changed the annerversay to the day after now.. my my h2b ended up proposing on my birthday anyway so we are getting married on july 1st because that is when we first met

My fiance proposed to me on the 2nd of July, so we went for July for that reason. Were getting married on the 3rd this year.

He also wanted a marquee wedding which wouldnt be a good idea in autumn/winter!

plus, by bday is in nov and his is in march so gives us something to celebrate during the year.
