Well I am getting married there on 10th July 2010 and I could not be happier with the venue. It was the last place I saw and it was so perfect it outshone any of the others we had seen. The staff are so friendly and they cannot do enough. Lynn the wedding organiser gives you a book of recommended suppliers for everything. Food is absolutely amazing and I have been able to create a menu that I love. Went last weekend for my free drinks tasting and I loved it. Tried everything from reception cocktails to wines. Finally chose my drinks for the reception and wedding breakfast. I am having my ceremony there also. Any questions please feel free to ask me.

Have you visited the place yet? xx

Hi,

I am also getting married at Llangoed, I have been blown away by the service and the attention to details from both Lynn and the other staff there!

Llangoed was actually one of the first we saw, as soon as I walked I was blown away by how calm the venue felt and the sheer ease of the place, it felt homely and peaceful and now a year on from booking it I wouldn't change it for the world.

As I said earlier Lynn has been amazing, she is so organised, has so many recommendations for local suppliers.

I didn't bother visiting Miskin to look around their wedding facilities, I spoke to the event coordinator (finally after 6 attempts) she was rude, unhelpful and was unable to answer very simple questions that I had. I also heard some very negative feedback from guess at other weddings and also from a number of suppliers (one cake maker from Cardiff told me that they refuse to deliver there any longer) and a photographer who i spoke with told me that one of his brides cancelled her wedding there because they are so disorganised. Since then I have been to Miskin for dinner, the first thing that struck me was the noise of the motorway, I live in London and one of the main things for us was the peace that Llangoed offered.

Personally I would go anywhere else, but then I am very biased!!

I have a huge list of all the places we went to on our hunt; I will try and dig it out for you.

Charlprincess, can I ask what food you have decided to go with, I am thinking about the Welsh beef, although my partner would like lamb – We have our food tasting booked in already so very excited about that

Hi bride-Victoria.

We were also undecided about the beef and lamb and at the food tasting I had the lamb and H2B had fillet of beef. I have to say the beef out shone the lamb in our opinion. It was the best fillet I had ever tasted. We have a fab steakhouse near our home but we have not gone there since but have returned to Llangoed Hall for a meal. Our menu is as follows
Welsh leek and potato soup

Bucks fizz sorbet

Welsh black beef fillet on a swede mash with green beans, broad beans, baby carrots and a red wine jus

(V) Mushrooms and tagliatelle in a creamed leek sauce

Trio of Llangoed Hall desserts

Have you had your wine tasting yet? I was blown away by the drinks served especially cocktail receptions. What is the date of your wedding?Have you booked exclusivity for your wedding?

We attempted to dress the two dressers the other weekend. We took ages to collect enough stuff to fill it.

Any questions please feel free to ask

Hi Charl,
We have our food and wine tasting on 29th April this year and our wedding will be on 30th April next year, Lynn suggested that as we have so much time that it would be worth visiting a year in advance so we try everything in season and then we are going to stay overnight and wake up the year before our wedding in the venue.

I would really like to have the beef and have been told that the beef is pretty amazing there, I am really excited about trying the food and the drinks, Lynn has been so accommodating and offering little tips on thing to do with drinks...

We are taking exclusive use and I have also been on the lookout for bits for the dresser, what have you got in mind? I am aiming for photographs, some flowers and maybe some lanterns.

Have you booked a florist yet? I am really struggling to find one that I like that doesn't want to charge the earth.

I have so many questions to ask!!, finding someone who is using the same venue is great!

We are taking exclusive use, are you? At the moment we are still undecided on numbers for the reception, I think we will have to split the wedding across the two rooms as we found the cost of the marquee was so expensive we knew that the numbers are on the borderline of fitting and so we decided just to stick with the orangery and not use the marquee.

We are not taking exclusive use as the extra bedrooms would not be used and we have booked out most of the rooms downstairs anyway. Not having loads of people, 48 in day and 94 in evening.

Lynn is amazing isn't she, really useful and experienced. We have booked Alison Bentley as our florist. She has an outbuilding at her home in Cardiff and she knew exactly what type of wedding we were having just from seeing a pic of my dress. I took swatches of my dress to her and she found me amazing flowers.

Only just booked a DJ. Left it until last minute really. Did not realise you were to book these a year before.

As for the dresser we have got pictures, flowers, vintage items that fit in with the ivory and pink theme.

I only wish somebody was getting married when I was planning. I would have loved to have asked them questions. If you need any more help just ask.

We have a meeting arranged with Alison in April, it is really nice to hear that you found her good.

I think we will book Pete Stead for the DJ, he was recommended by Lynn and seems very nice, we are also due to meet with him in April. Today I have booked our cake, it is being made by http://www.designercakesbyjanet.co.uk, we met with her a few weekends ago and found her very helpful and friendly.

I think that is it for the moment, April seems to be the month when things get going, I have dress appointments, food tasting, florist and dj appointments so I can't wait to get them underway.

So far I have loved planning my wedding, I hope it continues like this :\)

I have loved doing everything. Make sure when you meet Alison you take as much as you can with you with regards to pictures of what you like, colour swatches, picture of your dress if possible etc. She will give you a rough price of what things cost after the consultation.

We booked Black Panther Discos. I am meeting him 27th March at a wedding to confirm he is good.

Our cake is being made by http://www.zuccheropatisserie.co.uk/. He was fab.

Our photographer is Sacha Miller. Had originally booked somebody else but did not feel comfortable around him so changed to Sacha Miller.

Are you trying reception drinks the same time as the food tasting? Where are you going to try on dresses? xx

I attended a wedding in Cyprus and the couple had Sacha Miller , he was really good and they were very happy with him,

Zucchero Patisserie look amaizing, my H2B really wanted a traditional fruit cake for the wedding so I agreed but a chocolate tower of sweet goodness looks like a wonderful idea!

We are doing the drinks and food on the same night, we live in London and so we plan to make a weekend of it and have booked a room for the night - Not sure how my head will be the following morning!

I have some appointments in Cardiff, Alison Jayne, Suzanne James and High Society and then also some in London.

Have you got all yours sorted? has Llangoed been booked long?

Are you from Mid Wales, my partner and I both grew up in South Wales, as I mentioned we both now live in London but the thing that struck us about Llangoed is how peaceful it is there, that was very important for us as we wanted something very different to our day to day lives.

We are both from South Wales. My dress is finally sorted. I had it from All About Eve in Newport. They were brilliant. My dress has been made by Ian Stuart. Booked Llangoed Hall in May 2008. Reception cocktails are fabulous. We have chose two different ones xxx

I have heard great things about 'About Eve' maybe I will have to squeeze in a visit to them as well ;\)

Ian Stuart has some beautiful dresses, my friend had a wonderful IS dress, it was quite full with some wonderful lace and a large flower - I am looking forward to dress shopping although I have no idea what I want, hoping i will have a better idea when I try them on

We booked in May last year I thought we were a little mad booking 2 years in advance, glad to see we weren't the only ones :\)

Maybe I need to go browsing for dresser items online now
Hope you have a lovely evening

Morning Victoria,

It took us over a year to collect enough items for the dresser. My boot was full of the items as I made sure I had enough items by decorating the dresser the same day as I had the food and drink tasting. Luckily, to my surprise we only had one shelf where we needed to place something so I was over the moon.

All About Eve were fab, really friendly and so patient. I had taken ideas from IS dresses and created my own unique dress. There was a lot of contacting IS himself and it spent ages finding a fabric and colour that I loveed. Vicki and Maureen (mother and daughter who run the shop) were so amazing and they helped me so much choosing the right fabric and colour. My dress arived not long ago and I have been down to take a sneaky peak and it is fab and I get to try it on week Tuesday xxxx

If anyone is getting married at Llangoed Hall and is looking for a hair and make-up artist, I know just the person. Her name is Heidi and she is a freelance MAC hair and make-up artist based in Crickhowell but travels all over with her business.
Some friends of mine recommended her and Lyn Tompkin from Llangoed Hall. I had a trial recently and she made me look like a million dollars. I went out that night and never had so many comments. I am booking her for my wedding for sure. She is a very lovely girl and very reasonably priced as far as MAC make-up artists go.
Her mobile is 07595 421012 or email heidiherkes@gmail.com
Good luck

Thanks PollyAnna, My bestfriend is a hairdresser in London, she generally does lots of commercial and catwalk stuff so she will be doing my hair for the wedding, I am however looking for a make-up arstist so that could be very handy.
