Anyone else having their ceremony / reception here? Thought we could share ideas - places to take photos, ways we've been successful on haggling etc.

Hi
We aren't having our wedding there (getting married in Pollockshields Burgh Halls) but I absolutely lobe Sherbrooke Castle Hotel! It's fab. We're staying there on our wedding night.

Hi Bride_Rainy
I am having my reception there. Only 5 weeks and 5 days to go. What about yourself when are you having your wedding there?

Hi, I'm a Sherbrooke B2B too!
Getting married in church across the road and then reception in Sherbrooke this Summer. Can't wait!
I thought about maybe going for photos elsewhere- maybe walled gardens Bellahouston park or Glasgow Green mainly to steal a bit of time with groomy after the ceremony, to make full use of the car and to get some nice photos. I know the council charge quite a bit though for use of park. Bride_Rainy- love your blog- 2 weddings...lucky you! Is anyone else using sherbrooke DJ? x

oh I hadn't thought of going elsewhere for pics, I'll check out those places you mentioned. I'm not from the area so very useful info for me. We are having the in-house DJ - there's no choice, you have to have him but I don't really mind - it saves me finding someone. This summer - lucky you! We're next April

Hi Bride_Rainy

We are having our photographs taken at the Church we are getting married and at the Sherbrooke Castle. The gardens are lovely and to be honest can't be bothered travel to numerous locations and don't really have the time and if there is an additional cost to get photographs at the parks then that is another reason.
We have booked a band to play at the reception. The Wedding co-ordinator is William and he is really nice.
What date next year?
Will send you a report and photos.

I'm having my reception at Sherbrooke in September this year. I went to see various venues & fell in love with this hotel upon approach! It's just beautiful.
I'm having my photographs on the grounds, the gardens are gorgeous and at the bottom of the hill with your car & the hotel in the background is stunning. The staircase is also lovely for photos.

Our photographer has asked if he can accompany us when we are next visiting the venue for ideas, which I thought was great.

How far in advance have you guys arranged with Sherbrooke about decoration, table plans etc? As i said im not until June 2011 but just when exactly should I start arranging all these kind of things? Also, are any of you having a master of ceremonies? I know that this an optional extra but just wondered if it's a good idea? Any help would be appreciated!

we are getting married in the Sherbrooke in Oct, we decided against the master of ceremonies atfter speaking to the hotel. We wanted to include one of my good friends in the wedding party & the hotel said if we wanted to get someone to act as master of ceremonies they would prompt them on what to say & when.

For all the people getting married at Sherbrooke St Gilberts have you been attending the church? We go most weeks & always chuckle at the number of young couples in the congregation!

I got married in Sherbrooke Castle recently. It was brilliant! we had ceremony and reception there. (we had the ceremony on the staircase) it was a perfect venue and the staff were great on the day! Everything ran so smoothly! In fact we had no problems from the day we booked right through. Good luck with all your planning, it is a great venue!! xx
