Subject: What to Wear....
Hi,

Just joined up today, me and my partner Faye, are getting wed in July 2010.

Having been together 8 years this month, we thought now was the right time to get married.

Neither of us have ever been to a Civil Partnership before, so bit nervous about what we're doing and if we're actually doing thing's right. I know there's pretty much no rules from what I've read about how things are done, apart from when it comes down to the vows.

I think the thing we're worried about most is what we are going to wear! I'm not a dressy girl, and neither is my partner. We are very much the same, we're not butch. More fem/ tom boy. We both want white trouser suits, which I think will have to be the way bestoke the way things are going.

Could anyone recommend any one they've used or are using currently?

Much appreciated,

Em

Congratulations!! We're getting married in June and can't wait.

Your day can be anything you want it to be. We chose to have a big semi-traditional wedding day. We are getting married in a castle (hotel), have photographers and videographer, having a sit down 3 course meal, an evening band and disco and a whopping cake lol.

We dont go for steroetypes, but I would say i'm quite feminine and my girlfiend is more tomboyish but likes an occasional bit of slap and a pair of heels. You would never catch her in a dress..... until one day she tried one on for a laugh! She ended up finding her perfect wedding dress!

I can recommend In The Pink Photography, not just for their services but also because they have a fabulous website where you can see what other couples have done for their special day.

Good Luck x

Hi Em

Congratulations and good luck - you might want to consider something bespoke - depending on your budget - and get something designed and fitted for you. Alternatively some of the couples we've worked with have gotten their big day outfits from some of the big name outfitters... A few people that initially thought of white end up going down a more colourful route

There are a few images on our website that will give you an idea of some of the ladies clothes worn at our recent CP's....Most have opted for more traditional colours..

Whatever you decide - keep us updated and good luck... It'll be a great day...

We wore purple dresses, slightly different from each other, made bespoke. I think it would be a lovely idea to have suits made to measure - you want to feel special on your wedding day.
Don't feel like you have to wear white though!

Congratulations everyone on here... its all so exciting isnt it!!
My partner Suzanne has never worn a dress in her life, we recently went to our friends civil partnership and she saw how lovely they both looked in dresses and she has decided to wear one on the big day!!! I know she will look stunning and I cant wait to see her.

We have decided to have our dresses made by the same dress maker, in the same colour and material but completely different styles.

The one thing we're having an issue with is walking down the aisle... we dont want to fall in the stero type of one waiting at the altar for the other but how can we walk down at the same time, through the same door without seeing eachother before we get into the room lol.. thats meant to be the best bit looking back and seeing eachother all dressed up! Any ideas?! xx

We struggled with the whole aisle scenario too. I haven't quite decided what to do about that myself. I think we are going to toss coins to see who gets to walk down first. We had talked about me walking down the aisle first simply as I'm the one everyone thinks is 'the girl one' and my partner is a bit more of a tomboy than me so we thought if I walked down first people would think of her as 'the groom' so if I go first it will kind of combat that mindset.

Just reading that I know that all sounds a bit odd but there are members of mine/my partners family who have problems getting to grips with the fact that we are both girls and neither one of us is the 'male' in our relationship. Trying to explain it to them gets quite frustrating at times.

I completely understand, I think everyone will expect Suzanne to walk down the aisle first and thats why we want to change it abit! We're in the same boat really, as I know my nan and that will find it hard to take.. we are breaking it to her thos week actually lol! I think its because they dont understand. We went to to vue our venue and they looked at me and said 'oh I take it your the bride' and completely blanked Sue out as if she was just my tag along friend, I had to explain that actually we are both the brides.. I think she was a little embarassed when I told her.
So.. whens the big day? Only 414 days to go for me us... it seems like forever!!! x

218 days!! woohoo we're 10/10/10

We're soexcited, its a shame there seem to be a fair few CP couples on the site but very few come back to share experiences and wedding reports, would love to see pics especially of two brides in dresses. When loooking online most female CPs wear suits which is fine but would love to see more pics of dresses. Only site have really seen them on is in the pink photography which has a great gallery.

We are also have string quartet, band, wedding breakfast, buffet, photos, video the whole kaboodle! Its all too exciting!
