Subject: Less calories = Weight loss - SIMPLE!!!
Hey all,

I wanted to start a new thread as I find that having ladies to chat to really does help when it comes to diets etc.

So a bit about me - The only diet I have ever done is Slimming World and yes, I lost weight! In fact for my wedding last July I lost nearly a stone but, I did start running towards the end of my weight loss journey and found that really help to tone up.

Since getting married I have slowly got back into bad habits and as a Slimming World member I personally found that it taught me just a few eating problems. Some of you may know SW and love it like i used too, but for me, i found that filing my plate full of carbs and still able to loose a pound or two here and there really taught me to eat more and more and yes, more.

Eventually the weight crept back on and I ended up putting on over half a stone simply by eating more than I should.

I found a thread on here, "1200 calorie diet" and I have to thank them all for helping me over the last 2 weeks. I was a bit dubious to start - How would I ever feel satisfied on only 1200 calories??? But, actually, with a bit of planning and reading what is in the foods that I already had in my cupboard meant that I could do it!

I can eat the foods that I love, have the odd treat at the weekend and I have to say that even with a massive blow out last weekend that I have lost 5lb's to date.

People are starting to ask if ive lost weight and lets face it, thats the best feeling when your on a weight loss journey, whether it be SW, WW or Slimfast.

I will be enjoying a lovely meal wuth Hubby tonight as its our 4 year anniversary of getting together but tommorrow will be a new start of a new week and I am looking forward to seeing the scales again next weekend.

Who knows - I could do it and loose 2lb's and be back to my wedding weight!!!

Ladies, if any of you have read my story and want to chat about diets please reply and I hope to speak to you all soon.

Lucy xx

P.s - Vikki if your reading let me know how your getting on treacle

I am here Lucy!!

I'm doing ok - just had a bit of a naughty weekend so trying to make up for it! Been to the gym twice and going today. Stuck to my 1200 cals Monday and Tuesday and went slightly over Sat and Sun.

Hoping for a loss of anything this week! Got nothing really bad on next week so should be a good one! Get weighed Fri morning so will let you know how I get on!

I have also discovered WW yoghurts (the raspberry tart and lemon cheesecake ones - mmmmm!) that are only around 50 cals each! And MilkyWays are only 98cals so I'm enjoying finding new things to fit into my weeks to make them more varied!

What kind of things are you having as snacks and lunches etc?

Well done on your 5lbs!! It gives me hope haha!

Luucyyyy! Where are yoouuuu?!

How did you get on this week? I only lost 1lbs so was a bit disappointed after 4 days straight at the gym and walking home every day which takes over an hour!

I am noticing a bit of change in my shape though as I've been doing a bit more weigh-training at the gym trying to get my waist a bit trimmer lol.

If you're out there let me know how you did this week! I want a good week this week!!

So, what a BAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDD Weekend eating and wise!

Chinese fri night with a bottle of white wine and crisps last night with a few slimline voddies.

Tut Tut Lucy and get your ass back into gear!

So, ive been shopping this morn, currently cooking a huge batch of Slimming World Scotch broth soup which i imagine to have 100-200 cals a bowl but very satisfying and healthy.

Hopefully i won't go over 1200 anyday this week and see if i can undo the damage - back up to 9.6 this morn meaning a 1lb loss to date. Grrrrr i saw 9.1 last fri - WHY DID I DO IT TO MYSELF!!!!!

Hubby's on nights this week so no excuses to get out there and exercise so i hope my friend wants to come after work as its too dark on my own.

How's your weekend been Vikki?

Oh no hun, it's horrible when you have the "why oh why did I do it?!" feeling! I have that a bit at the moment - nothing too drastic but I wanted a REALLY good week!

Off to a bad start to be honest! Friday night had 2 Foxes Biccies......131 cals each but this was after about 4 WW spritzers way over cals!

Yesterday we went to the Wedding Show in Birmingham - had good intentions taking my packed lunch - ham and lettuce sarnie on 400g WM bread. Had 1 glass of champers and 2 glasses of WW wine while we we there and loads of little choccies knocking about Then in our VIP goody bag got a big bar of Galaxy - which I gave to H2B - then ate half of it Boo to THOSE calories!!

Been at H2B's grandmas this morning where there is always cakes and nibbles and she MAKES me eat them lol - so had a bad start today aswell!! I did go to the gym this morn though in my defence!

SO this week I have decided I'm having a lot more salad, more exerise and I'm going to drink green tea!! I will try ANYTHING for a loss haha.

I'm glad that you are naughty like me though, I feel like we are good slimming buddies haha. We have the good intentions but wine and crisps etc just fall into our mouths now and again! Lol.

I'm also hoping to go for my first outdoor run of 2010 this week - maybe tomorrow night if the weather's ok as I've signed up for the Race For Life in June and was hoping to do a 10K if I manage the 5K ok. Do you have anything like that planned this year hun?

Are you on Facebook?

OOooo OOooo where ya doing your race for life??? I'm signing up to do mine agian in June. I'd love to attempt the 10k one too.

I totally agree we do make great slimming buddies - both love wine and both seem pretty near to our targets but just our minds seem to be dragging!!!!

Yes i'm on FB - Lucy Mason Wales, if you search for me my profile pic is me wearing a yellow dress.

I'm just about to tuck into my soup, ive had nothing all day except about 3 green tea's - i drink a few a day but would ideally like to drink that and nothing else as im sure tea wiv milk bloats me up.

I've added you on FB

My Race For Life is in Hull, on 6th June. I think there is a local 10K in July so if I manage the 5K I might go for it! My h2b did it a couple of years ago and my dad does them all the time lol.

Oooh I'm glad that you are on the green tea boat too! Do you think it helps with weight loss? How long have you been drinking it? I only just bought some on Friday - it's a bit gross so far lol.

Your soup sounds nice, I made a nice leek and potato one last week. I need some more lunch ideas, might have a look for weight watcher recipes as they seem low in cals.

I've been drinking green tea for a while now on and off and once i start i really enjoy it. I tried all the fruit ones and i didn't find one i liked so now i just have the pg green tea with a hint on lemon or mint and i find it helps with the idea of having a cup of tea and a biscuit or two!!! Can't say whether it helps weight loss as i only ever have skimmed milk so really the calories saved is tiny.

Hoping to have a real good week until fri when i've got a wotk meal but i've gone for the veggie option and its prob full of calories to make up for the lack of meat - DO!

Mothers day on sun too - taking mum and MIL out for dinner but at least the mornings are going to get lighter soon so i'll be able to get bk out there and get some running done!!!!

Once i've got over the initial idea of running i bloody love it - just need to bottle up the great feelings and drink them when i need to go out again lol!!!!

Hey ladies

Im starting a weight loss diet today. Im reducing my calories and hoping that will help me shift the weight. Im 12 stone 4lbs but before i fell pregnant i was 11 stone, i would idelly like to be 10 and a half stone, but dont wanna get over ambitious! My son was born nearly a year ago and i cant keep blamming him for my flabby belly!

I tried slimming world but didnt feel they took my seriously as i onyl wanted to loose a stone but for me that stone has pushed me up a dress size and makes me fat and ugly and un confident. The fat is all around my belly and hips and thighs and i cant bear it anymore! I want to be slimmer for my wedding in Nov this year and am detirmined. Im limited with child care so hard for me to get to the gym but do go on nice long walks and own an exercise bike!

Hope this works!
Well done on all teh pounds you girls have lost already!

Hi Jennie!

Welcome to our simple minded diet plan lol. Sounds like you've got plenty of time to get to your target - really achievable hun!

Me and Lucy both did slimming world last year for a while but found it didn't teach us enough about portion control for us to lose that last bit - I got there in the end but they didn't ever tell me to cut down my portions!

Walking and biking are great ways to burn fat too hun, brisk walking with your pram will be really good!

What is also a good idea is planning your week out - well I find this helps anyway! It's just the weekends when I go off the rails then spend the rest of the week trying to make it back up haha.

Are you having a "weigh in" day?

Thanks hunni, thats what i found too, i prob only have a sandwich for lunch but they were telling me to have a jacket with beans then i could still have a big dinner i was eating more than normal and for me that wasnt working.

I hoping the exercise will work too i love going walking with the pram and now the weather is getting better (although cold at least we have sun!) we should be able to go out more!

I do plan all our dinners so i only go shopping once a week and have planned all healthy stuff! Im like you and find weekends hardest as my h2b is home and we get a take away and eat rubbish!

Yes im gonna have my weight in day on a monday morning. Im 12 stone 4lbs today! Hope ill be lighter next week!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I just spent ages typing a reply and i lost it!!!

Basically Welcome Jennie to our ickle thread!

Glad that all of us have tried SW and found the same problem. I have to say SW does work, its just a shame that I abused the "Eat as much as you like" and developed this huge appetitie for huge portions since!!

So ladies this is a very stressfull week for me - no excuse i know but still it does effect me terribly.

I have a work's party on fri and of corse its Mummy's day on sun so not a chance of losing any this week - if i could maintain that would be great.

How about after this weekend that we actually post our weight losses/gains on here - Like we used to do Vikki, what do you think???

xx
