Just continuing on from another thread really.... I've been TTC for 1 month now but had nagging fears from a young age I may have problems so wanted to explore every avenue possible. I'm taking Pregnacare but also have weekly acupunture sessions (having session 5 today) and she's also a Chinese Doctor so she gives me herbal remedies. I'm not pregnant yet (as far as I know) but I'm enjoying every minute of the acupuncture and if nothing else it has relaxed me totally and made me believe that it really is possible... She tells me about stories of women who have been told there's no hope by conventional Doctor's who come to see her and fall pregnant.

So ladies ... I thought it might be nicet to share all our stories about acupuncture... xx

Hi again! Was going to say on the other thread, but noticed you'd started this one - but thanks for the welcome, and also I feel exactly the same from my acupuncture sessions. My friend had been going to our acupuncturist for a long time and kept saying I should go. I get eczema on my hands, so I thought I'd ask him about that. I have found it so relaxing and really look forward to the sessions. Also my eczema has almost disappeared! Anyway, he picked up on the fact that I am mega broody! He specialises in baby-making kind of acupuncture, so I'm sure he could spot it a mile off from me! I got married in Aug last year and hubby was not been too keen on starting trying for babies until recently and we have decided to start TTC in Sept this year - am so excited!!
My acupuncturist has said the work he is doing with me will be good preparation for making babies and he has given us both supplements to take, which really feels like we're a step closer.
I have a cousin who has taken so long to get pregnant that I really think she should go and see an acupuncturist - want to say to her, although feel a bit awkward in bringing it up!
I really feel that acupuncture has helped me loads already - mainly for stress, so definitely want to continue til I'm pregnant - and hopefully it wont take too long to get there!
Sorry for the long post!xx

Hi Ladies

I was diagnosed in December with PCOS and my first AF was over 4 months after coming off the pill!!! So I basically started going to acupuncture sessions in Jan as they are meant to regulate cycles and am really pleased I have - I find it relaxing once the pins are in (always a bit tense when they go in though!!!) and I have defo ov'ed this month and am looking at a 40 day cycle this month instead of 130 days which was what the last one was!!!
I am really hoping this will work and currently at 7dpo so will let you know how I get on with it - Would be good to see how everyone with AC gets on with BFP's!!

Thanks for the thread Beckywoo

Thanks Mrs Linc and you too!!

Great idea Catherine, let's keep updated, would be interesting to hear how all our acupuncture gang get on!!!

We'll never know for sure if it's helped I suppose but if nothing else, like you say Mrs Linc, it is helping me so much with my stress and worry. Just chatting to her makes me feel better and assures me that everything that is happening to me is normal. She's told me this evening that by next month I should be balanced and ready to go. Let's hope so! xx

P.S Great to hear it's working so well with all you ladies too, I've read nothing but good things!

That's great news Becky that you'll be balanced next month.

Friend recommended acupuncture as 1 of her friends couldn't conceive & other had multiple miscarriages & both have healthy babies now. After 18 months of trying for 3rd child friend had 1 acupuncture session & conceived.
I had session 3 tonight & really feeling like its flushing my system. Hoping she'll move onto fertility soon! Session 4 on Saturday & we'll discuss what's next. Think I need a day in bed, so many toxins are exhausting me!x

I'm getting myself condused about which thread to write on - so I'll just write on both!
That is great Becky that you will be balanced next month - I havent really heard that term yet, as previously I have been going for the eczema, but I have mentioned a few times now about babies to my acupuncturist and he said I should be well prepared by then. I am also an alternative therapy addict!
Alison that is great about your friends and also for you too! I cant wait to get started on TTC!
Catherine sounds like its also working for you - best of luck with it!
Would be great to keep in touch to see how everyone gets on with it
love Helen xxx

Oh lovely stories Alison, they fill me with excitement when I hear how well it works! I really have every confidence in it. There really is something in PMA too so I hear. Let me know when you move onto Fertlity and we can compare notes!!!
Good luck with it all Helen, keep us posted.
And Catherine too!!!
Also just to mention that my step sister has been TTC for her 2nd child for 3 years now. She's paying an absolute fortune to go to an IVF private clinic. 1st thing they said was, have some acupuncture. There must be something in it! xxx

OMG - I feel so nauseous today - I definitely feel the effects of my treatments but I'm assuming that means its working. Session no. 4 tomorrow!! Tomorrow we are going to discuss how my treatment will continue and appointments will be less frequent!

Becky re your sister in law ... info from my bible.... tests show that couples who have acupuncture while receiving IVF treatment are more likely to get pregnant. "according to the british medical journal people who have acupuncture while receiving fertility treatment were 65% more likely to go on to have a successful embryo transfer procedure & 91% more likely to have a live birth"

This is a fab thread! I am really tempted to go and enquire about this. I don't know if i'll have any problems TTC yet but if it prepares your body then surely it's worth it.

We have a place down the road which does acu so i might pop in!

Becky i think i remember reading that you live in Essex, me too!!

My friend had acu after trying for a few years TTC her 2nd baby, after the first treatment she went back for another and was told there's no need as she was already preg!!

Good luck girls, i can't wait now, Can't tell h2b though or he'll want to get cracking!

x
We are getting married on 5th November 2010!!!

And yes I always make typos and I can never be bothered to correct them!!

How did your session go Alison? Did your acupuncturist say it was OK to feel nauseous? I haven't felt this but wonder if it might be because you've had quite a few in a week maybe... Is your acupuncturist Chinese may I ask?!!? I've got my next session on Thursday but so far what she wants it to be doing it's doing! She said my cycles were too short and heavy and so far it's lengthened and is much better. According to my book too that's the aim of the game! The better the period the better chance you have of concieving.

I'd definitely recommend it Mrs November!!! Whereabouts do you live in Essex?

That is great about your friend MrsNovember - apparently my acupuncturist can tell if someone is pregnant just by listening to her pulses!
I feel like I haven't had a session for ages as he has gone away to australia for a month - my next is 19th march. Do any of you have to take herbs or change your diet at all with it?
Thats really interesting about the length of your cycles and how it affects your chances. Am looking forward to getting my book soon so can read more about it

Mrs Lampiekat - it seems to vary greatly. Mine should be £30 a session but I'm getting a discount and it's £20 but my step sister is going via a fertility clinic and it's £80! I believe there is a website you can check that your acupuncturist is registered if you're worried.

I'm taking herbs with it too, I've got 2 types. I take 10 of each in the morning and evening so I'm a bit of walking pill bottle at the moment! xxx
