Subject: Venue ideas in Kent?
Hi All,

I'm recently engaged and searching for a venue in Kent to have my Ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception.

I'm based in the Maidstone area and am desperatly searching for venues whilst sticking to a fairly modest budget. Anyone have any ideas or recomendations?

Many thanks,

Amy x

Hi MrsRamsay2be... congratulations on your recent engagement!

How many guests were you thinking of? And roughly what is your budget for a reception?

I can thoroughly recommend the venue I used - Salmestone Grange in Margate. You can have either a civil or a chapel wedding, the food is delicious and there are 3 flat/cottage type rooms to stay in too! They were so lovely and helpful.

We're in Kent too

We're not having ours all in one place now, however places we found that weren't too shockingly priced were Oakwood House, Ramada Jarvis Maidstone, Museum of Kent Life and Kits Coty - just really depends on your guest numbers and budget

If you need any other supplier info give me a shout - we've nearly finished our prep now and all our suppliers have been fab so I'd happily recommend xxx

Hi,

I had my wedding reception at The Turkey Mill in Maidstone, it was fantastic, they were brilliant through the whole wedding process.

You can have your whole day there, and it is beautiful. I have put my wedding pic on here so have a look.

Hi gemmlou,

Thank you! We'll be having around 60 - 80 guests for the day and there will be approx 120 for the evening reception. I was hoping to spend around £6000.00 - £7000.00 on the reception, not including registrar fees etc. Do you have any suggestions?

Salmestone Grange looks really lovely, exactly the type of venue I had in mind, thank you Blayde. We're off to have a look on Saturday : )

Hi MrsRamsay2be,

We had exactly the same issues when we were looking - we've booked with Oakwood House for reception only and got a great deal of £6800 for a Saturday in April for 100 people (arrival drinks, dinner, and evening buffet - they're doing us a deal on corkage so bringing our own wine). It always pays to haggle....

Can also recommend Museum of Kent Life, Sackville School in Hildenborough (gorgeous private school with a marquee), Little Silver Country Hotel in Tenterden, or the Hop Farm?

Hope this helps!

We used the beautiful Lympne Castle, early wedding at 1pm then all 80 of us ferried off to nearby Port Lympne Safari park on a safari truck trip round the park, much better than the boring 2 hour gap for the photos! back at the castle for 4.30 for some pre-drinks then reception meal. Amazing day.... almost 2 years ago... times flies....

Hello, your numbers and budget is roughly the same as us. Salmestone Grange is very intimate and a small venue so may not be big enough for you. We are going with Chilston Park in Lenham. Stunning venue and prices are very reasonable for everything you get. Also, very close to you. Good luck!

I know Cooling Castle in Rochester is really popular and looks lovely. We're having our reception at at Bickley manor but that's probably a bit far from you (it's near Bromley)

there are loads of really nice places, cooling castle is nice, as is oakwood house, whcih we are using upnor castle is already really good, was recommended to me after i had chosen but dont no the price. Eastwell manor was not impressed if you go and look make sure you see the evening reception part, it is awful whereas the statley home you get married in is to die for.

Thanks for all your posts ladies, I am so grateful. Have been to Salmestone Grange, Cooling Castle Barn, Barbourne House and Oakwood House and the search continues! Has anyone been to The High Rocks, in Tunbridge Wells? It looks lovely and is really reasonably priced, just wondered if anyone on here has been married/ been to a wedding there?
Thanks so much!
