Hi Ladies

Went to travel agents today to get some prices for honeymoon. Originally fancied Barbados, however, as we aren't getting married until next Feb the flights weren't on system yet so were given some quotes for Jamaica.

We hadn't really thought about Jamaica to be honest as dont really know anyone who has been or know much about the place. Hotels looked amazing. We have been given a quote for Couples swept away in Negril and Couples hotel in Ocho Rios.

Has anyone been or booked for honeymoon? Any advice would be fab.

Thanks xx

Havent booked a honeymoon in Jamaica, but did go to Jamaica last June (an engagement holiday!) and had a lovely time. The only downside we felt was that because the majority of the hotels are on complexes with nothing else around them you cant leave the hotel area and go for a wander (but they advise you not to in most Carribean countries anyway). But as honeymooners you'll probably want to enjoy the lush surroundings of the hotel and if you do want to go out book some trips to look forward to at the start of the hol. We went to the welcome meeting and booked a trip for every 2/3 days. The best trips we went on was the Dunns River Falls/Dolphin Swim day trip and a tour of 'real Jamaica' where they take you into the coffee plantations, a town and even to a school in the middle of the countryside to meet the local kids x

Thanks for the info Jen. I booked up for Couples Sans Souci today. So excited!!!!!!! Think we just want to laze around the hotel anyway and just relax for 2 weeks. Think we might do a trip though. The ones you mentioned sound fab. Thanks again for your help xxx

Hiya

We went to Couples Ocho Rios about 3 years ago. I think it had a bit of a refurb since we went as if im honest it was looking a bit tired (was still lovely though). Lovely place, very chilled and romantic. There is a little island you can swim or get a pedalo to where the nudists sunbathe during the day! Quite funny (its part of the hotel) Also you must go to Dunn's river falls - its where cocktail was filmed - you know the bit where they are in the water! The fact that its couples only is a bit plus point in my eyes.....no kids splashing around in the pool - bliss!

tinxy22 it looks gorgeous there. It was between the Couples hotels and the Riu Tropical Palace for us. The travel agent highly recommended the tropical palace but as my h2b is a golf fanatic (he gets free golf with couples hotel) we opted for Couples. So much for romance eh!! lol.
Hope you have an amazing time!!!! You must post some piccys of the place when you get back.
Mrs Lobley 2b, I dont think i'll be baring my bum on the nudist bit I emailed the hotel to see if we could get one of the nicer rooms so fingers crossed. Was the food nice? Just looking forward to some relaxing time after the stress of the wedding. Gonna be stuck to one of those sun longers for the full 2 weeks ;-D xx

We got engaged at Couples Swept Away in November 2008 and I would go back now if you let me! Its a great resort if you are sporty at all as it has lots of fitness classes, a lap pool, golf and all the usual watersports. We did our diving qualification there too. The food was excellent. We were just in the basic room which was nice but I do wish we had been able to afford one of the top rooms, they looked fab!

Wintersparkle, yes the food was nice. There were 3 different restaurants when i was there if i remember rightly, the buffet and then 2 others that you had to pre book. You could also order b'fast to your room too which was nice. I actually put on about 9 pounds in a week from all the eating - all inclusive is no good for me - i just turn into a greedy wotsit. I think was the amount of sugary cocktails i consumed too! You will have a fab time....

You may have a bit of rain holtye, but its literally a quick 10 mins of pouring rain and then thats that. We went in October and we had a bit of rain but it certainly didnt spoil the holiday. It will be hot, hot, hot!!!
