im trying to decided whether to go for a fancy finger buffet for the evening, or get some pizzas and krispy kremes.

my reasoning is that i want people to have fun and actually eat the food, so pizza would be good. Moreover im thinking that pizza is gonna line my uncles stomach more than some fancy quail egg.

however, i dont want to be tacky, i dont want people to turn their noses up.

what do people think? tuck in or tacky?

If you can get hot fresh pizzas I would go for it. I love "fancy food" but after a good drink pizza qould win every time.

It depends what kind of venue your going for i would say.

Personally I woldn't like to see Pizza hut pizzas in an evening buffet but thats me and everyone is different.

H2B and I don't even go there normally so to have it at a wedding would be odd for us.

We've opted for a finger buffet and having sandwiches for e.g. smoked chicken and roquette, ham and mustard, prawn and avocado etc, chicken skewers, bbq spare ribs, cheese selection and more

I'm also making cupcakes and having a sweet table. It depends what style of wedding your going for. I would say pizzas would work for an informal and relaxed wedding.

it is a particular formal venue, i just really want people to have fun. and we are 20 year old students... some of my friends are still teenagers. and i want a party atmosphere for the evening.

it does seem a bit tacky to me, but if its all gonna be eaten and people enjoy it i would prefer that than a buffet that peoplemight not eat.

weddings arent easy are they?

I think it depends on the type of guests your having and as you said that a lot of your guests are young and students then it might work out really well.

My guests are all in their thirties. I'm going to be one of the youngest people at the wedding being 26 years old...

H2B is 5 years older than me so all his friends tend to be older and a lot of them are your typical city workers so they would find pizza hut pizzas and krispy kreme doughnuts at a wedding quite tacky.

In my opinion, Its your big day so should be out of the ordinary and the food should be special and a bit more posh than normal...

Have you thought about having mini pizzas and mini doughnuts instead as I don't think people would want to eat full size ones after having the wedding breakfast in the day as Pizzas and KK doughnuts are delicious but very heavy types of food...

Weddings are not easy at all. When's your big day?

my big day is gonna be after uni so its not set in stone just yet.

i think i will go for the buffet that the hotel supplies, after everyones input.

i feel quite stupid for suggesting it now

Personally I think pizza would work really well especially if you say you have a lot of younger guests and you want to create a 'fun' atmosphere. I think you should do whatever reflects your personality. What's right for one person isn't always right for another after all! I saw one couple that had a candy floss machine, popcorn and hotdog stand at their evening do and I had a friend that had an ice cream van! It looked really cool and different.

Heya
I would absoloutely love this idea if i went to a wedding - pizza and dohnuts! In my opinion they show a really fun, down-to-earth and relaxed side to a couple. We are having a pile of krispy kremes on a cake stand as part of our dessert buffet. However if you wanted to make it a little bit classy i would either opt for mini pizzas as part of a finger buffet or EVen better serve slightly posher pizzas (ie not pizza hut which are quite greasy and messy) and serve them with a few different bowls of salad, some ciabbatta garlic bread and some little extras for the salads like vinnagarette and croutons!
good luck deciding

If you want something a bit more substantial to a finger buffet, most venues offer Bacon/Sausage sandwiches or a Curry. I think it's a bit more modern than a standard finger buffet. Someone on here said they attended a wedding & each table got a large platter of sausage & chips in the evening which got eaten in no time. Someone's even got a fish & chip van coming to theirs - great idea!

i see where your coming from n dont feel stupid for suggesting it, like some of the other brides said, its your wedding!
i know how u feel i dont want the traditional kinda wedding so instead we have decided not to have a sit down meal and table plan, we are havin curry/chilli n just sit where u like, of the evening we are having a finger buffett but ive requested things people wil eat n enjoy, we are also having a sweets table and hopefully a choc fountain
just a quick question have u checked with your venue that you can supply your own food?
xx

go for it!! i think its better to be realistic about your budget and the theme you want and throw yourself into it 100%. i'd much rather have something fun and different and TASTY than a poor quality sit-down meal x

pizza's fine and a good alternative idea, however i would say dont leave them in the cardboard boxes. Plate them up and into slices and yummy krispy kremes!!!
