Is there something wrong with me?

I really need to pull my finger out here. i feel as though theres something wrong with me as i have no enthusiasm for this wedding. I do want to get married and have waited for 7 years for him to pop the question but i feel swamped with all that needs doing and keep putting it off.

you all seem to have almost everything done. All i have done is book the venue, got my dress, transport and band booked. thats it. i havnt got my bridesmaid dresses, rings, cake. nevermind all the stationery and table stuff.

I am starting to panic now and am in tears at night when i think about it

is anyone else out there like me? does anyone have any easy guidelines i can follow?

Don't worry - as long as you have all the big things booked in advance then the rest will fall into place as you go along. I still haven't sorted my bridesmaids dresses yet, and am in the process of doing that now. Have an appointment with a florist on Monday, and haven't ordered my stationary yet - although H"B's uncle is a printer and is doing them for us. xx

Sometimes I feel all a fluster when I read about how organised everyone else is!

I could give you a list of what I've still to do if it makes you feel less worried?

Arrange table decorations - no idea where to start with this
Book a florist - no idea what flowers I want
Have menu taster and choose menu
Confirm photographer - who we think is ok to do it but might not be
Book someone to do my hair and make-up
Have hair and make-up trials
Buy jewellary
Buy lingerie
Buy flowergirl dress and accessories
Buy bridesmaid dress and accessories
Arrange kilt hire for all the men
Choose music for ceremony/first dance
Choose readings/vows
Have dress alterations
Buy cake
Buy favours
Write and send invites


Phew - scary stuff when it's all wrote down.
The only things I've done that you've not is bought our rings and stationary.

It will all fall into place at some point, I find I do things in little bursts. It's difficult because while I'm excited to get married I don't want the wedding to take over my life and become my only focus so I'm trying to strike a balance. Still 6 months to do it all!

Hi ladies,

I have less than 5 months to go and still lots to do.
I still have to have my hair and make up trials, buy lingerie, jewellery, choose our vows, rings, BM accessories, write invites, buy favours, choose music for first dance, dance lessons...list goes on...

Oooh and I dont even have a dress as Im having a bespoke dress and my dress fitting process will start early May (has to be this late to ensure a perfect fit!) - not panicking yet...

Will all fail into place, we all feel the same sometimes so dont worry! I am constantly stressed about my planning!

Oh Alison, I felt like that after Christmas. Write a ist hun and start from the top and you won't stop! Mine started when I went BM shopping, now I am on a roll!!! Chill out hun, its supposed to be fun x

I have a dress, venue, caterer and photographer so I wouldn't worr yabout it! Just pick one thing to do and get it done then move onto the next thing. Dont try and do everytihng at once.

I know what you mean - me and h2b are looking forward to being married more than we are getting married - its not wrong to feel this way!

I have all the big things sorted; venue, dress, suits (vaguely), photographer, cake.

Still need to sort out invites - although I've more or less made a decision about that - hair and make up, DJ, bridesmaid dress. The BM dress I've now what I want I just need to wait a while before getting it as my BM is 12 and growing like a weed!

As long as you have things like the venue and dress sorted everything else is pretty much fluff as far as I'm concerned.

Alison, one of my friends organised a wedding in 3 weeks last year. 3 WEEKS! And it was lovely, at a nice venue, all very well organised and everyone had a great time. So chill out and just take things one step at a time! I would advise booking a photographer soon though as they get booked up early and are there for the whole day, whereas a florist/cake maker can cater a few weddings in one day, if you know what I mean. Well its good to see there are a few others out there in the same position as me!!

I am going to sort out my flowers this week and hopefully invitations. I found a website with really reasonably priced BM dresses last night too and i am going to order them from there.

i really appreciate the support and i suppose thats what this sites for!!!!

we are almost at the same stage only you are ahead of me cause we haven't booked the transport!

we have sourced who we want but it is soo time consuming going to see people and we want to see the cars in person before handing over money. ! also only ordered my dress yesterday. The thing is I'm not worried. I think if people still have availability now it is unlikely to change because most brides are much more organised and have already booked for august.

The main thing I want to sort out is florist and photographer but about to have a really busy couple of weeks at work and need to put everything on hold.

Relax, it will be fine.

hun what ive done is write a list of whats what and ticked them off its helpts as its written down on paper well on computer and im marking off!!! its because theres so much to think about in your head and i fund writing it down helpt me loads try that xx
