Hi,

I think it depends on whether you go for made to measure or not. I did and it wasn't too much more expensive bearing in mind that the made to measure price is the final price, all alterations included. This means that the proportions are all correct on a more petite person. If you go for that I don't think there are any styles to avoid really. But perhaps keeping it fitted to your hips is best as will show off your slim torso so that the top part of you doesn't look short. Enjoy! xx

Hi,

I'm of a very similar build to you - I'm usually a size 6 in shops, 5ft 2 and about 7 and a half stone. My dress is the complete opposite of what I thought I wanted - I originally planned on a big princess dress, but I found that they swamped me and didn't do much for my figure. My choice in the end is a mermaid/fishtail style - it is fitted till about the knee area and kicks out, it really compliments my figure and shows it off more than the so-called 'big' dresses. X

VanessaCH, I completely agree with you. I'm 4'11", about 7 and a half stone and absolutely loved the mermaid/fit and flare style. I'm getting married in Malta and went shopping looking for a sheath style chiffon dress and ended up loving the fit and flare style. I saw a shape in the mirror that I'd never seen before!! Also, I didn't really have a problem with dresses being too big, the consultants tweaked it all with clips and I saw how it would really fit. Good luck with your shopping GrantysMrs, and enjoy the experience!
