Hi we want to go to New Zealand but we're worried about whether it's worth it for two weeks with such long flight times. Where would be the best place to base ourselves, and can you recommend any resorts? Thanks, CSx

Hello Elley

Congratulations on your up coming wedding….. how very exciting. I think planning the honeymoon is the most exciting part!!

Pangkor Laut it a stunning property and you’ll have a wonderful time. Health advise is always changing so the best thing to do is check with your doctor or have a look on the world health organisation website. The will probably list a number of jabs that are recommended but there are no essential jabs required and when I went to Malaysia on my honeymoon we didn’t have any.

With regards to spending money it all depends on how much you want to indulge when you are there and what is included in the package provided by your Tour Operator. As you are on an island you will be spending most of your time on the resort and things can add up. If you want to really enjoy yourself, have 3 course meals with wine and indulge in the odd spa treatment I’d suggest about £200 a day for the two of you. If this seems a lot you would probably be fine with half that amount but might have to cut back on a few things - better to take more than you expect so you can really make the most of it. When you are on your honeymoon it feels so different to a normal holiday, a real treat and the only time in your life where you can properly spoil yourself.

Have a great time

Hello Jo

As you know we are a specialist to Australia, New Zealand, Pacific and Asia so I will let you know where is best within our destinations.
Firstly – the top half of Australia and also the Pacific Islands are at their best in July as it is the dry season so you’ll have lovely warm days without humidity. Asia can be slightly humid at that time but Bali is at its best as it is further south with similar weather patterns to northern OZ. In Thailand Koh Samui is on a different side of the peninsula to Phuket so has a slightly different weather pattern and is generally fine in our summer. If you are looking for more information on those destinations we can send you a brochure. Request a brochure online www.bridgeandwickers.co.uk

Hope this helps,

Rachel

Thanks Rachel, I think we will do about £200 a day plus a couple of extra bits for 'emergencies' (shopping, private dinners etc!)

Many thanks

We've booked to go to Sandals in Antigua - I was just wondering if there are any off-site excursions in that area as their website doesn't give anything away.

Hello Ems

Hawaii is a stunning destination with some beautiful beaches and spectacular volcanic scenery.

Avoid Honolulu if you want to avoid the high-rises…… you can hire a car and explore the island of Oahu and stay on one of the beaches the other side of the island. I would highly recommend hopping around the islands as they are all quite different. The Big Island has the most dramatic scenery and Maui the best beaches. It is very easy to spend 4 or 5 days on each island to create a neat little package with contrasting experiences and scenery.

Have a great time

Hello CS

If you are planning a trip to New Zealand I would say that 2 weeks is definitely worth it. It is a long way but honestly the idea of the flight is worse than the reality and once you are there you’ll have such an amazing time. New Zealand is not really the style of holiday where you’ll just base yourself in one place as there is so much to do and see. My recommendation would be to pick up a car and drive around spending a few days in each place. There are some charming guest houses and luxury lodges and resorts along the way with stunning locations – all extremely romantic. If you have 2 weeks don’t try and do the whole country as you’ll spend too much time driving and not enough time enjoying. Perhaps just stick to the South Island which is home to much of the most spectacular scenery and beautiful national parks. I could go on but don’t have time now… please do call us and I’d be happy to go into more detail and work out a perfect itinerary for you. Have a look at some of our suggested itineraries on the website and feel free to call. www.bridgeandwickers.co.uk

Good luck with your plans,

Rachel

Hello

Not sure of your name but the future bride going to Thailand……

If you are just going to Bangkok and Hua Hin there are no essential jabs, however I am not really qualified to give you the latest advise so do check with your doctor or check the World Health Organisation site. In terms of spending money…. it all depends on where you are staying and what is included. If you spend all your time in the resort you can easily spend up to £150 - £200 a day on meals, spa treatments etc. However if you can try and head out of the hotel and try some of the local restaurants not only will you have some amazing and authentic food but you’ll save so much money as they are about a quarter of the price of a luxury hotel. So….. you could probably get away with spending less.

Hope this helps.

Have a great time,

Rachel

Hello Nikki,
We don’t actually sell Antigua so I am not 100% sure, however I have actually been to the Sandals Antigua for a site visit when working for another company many years ago and am quite sure that they offer excursions off the property. From memory two of the most popular are a trip to English Harbour during the day and Shirley Heights for an evening bbq and dancing in the evening (I think it is once a week). I am quite sure they will offer both of these when you get there or you can talk to your rep.

Have a great time.
