Big Day - Castleford!

Just a big up for the Big Day in yorkshire AMAZING!!!

Im a size 18-20 and I have massive boobs (38GG) and I had a couple of bad experiences in bridal shops which put me off main stream after a bit of googling I found this shop and trekked from Preston the 2hours to Castleford and it was AMAZING!!! They had loads of dresses inc Ian Stuart in sizes 16+ and I was able to try on 15 beautiful dresses (all of which were gorge!) I ended up with a Ronald Joyce which I adore and which was perfect (I ordered in Jan and it arrived April 20th) Ihave my first fittin on Sat and I am sooooo excited!!!

Anyway just wanted to let everyone know they make you feel like a princess and there is tons to try on and they suit any budget! Plus the dressing rooms are what I imagined as opposed to some of the other stores, plush rooms with large dressing area *big white curtains to hide you for the perf reveal! and gorge chaise longue for guests !! x

I totally agree with you. I went there about 4 weeks ago and couldn't believe how fantastic it was, and how many beautiful dresses they had! I tried on about 15 dresses too, I could've stayed there all day! I'm going back in August (I don't get married til August 2011) when they get there new stock in to see if anything is any nicer than the Venus Woman 8616 that i found. Which is a dress that I would NEVER of tried on if the lady in the shop hadn't told me too, and it is AMAZING!

i just been there today and have to say i came out the happiest girl alive. went in after a dress for my wedding in 26 days and she was sooo helpfull i tried on plenty all in my price range and at last min she brought one in that i hated but she convinced me to try on and it was stunning, i would never have picked it but i am so greatful she picked it for me. go back next week for second fitting.
i am size 18/20 all the dresses were a good size and plenty of room to try on a great experience all round and a great laugh.

Hello all. I am going to The Big Day in September to try dresses. I haven't been wedding dress shopping before and just wondered if you could tell me how it works... sorry for asking such a silly question! x

I love this shop too. I travelled almost 5 hours from Cardiff to this shop, after being really disappointed by loads of other shops and the selection of plus size dresses being quite dowdy and samey in those shops.

I arrived at the Big Day, the women were lovely and tried so many beautiful dresses on which were really stylish and not just the typical plus size style.

I am happy to make the long drive for the service I received.

Hi MrsMcLean2be, you will LOVE your experiance at The Big Day! I went there in April and it was amazing! I got there about 15 mins before my appointment, and spent this time browsing through the dresses and choosing ones to try on. I got given about 15 rings to put on the hangers of the ones I choose, and the lady took those through to the changing area as I put them on.
The changing room is huge! No poky little changing area here! They have a selection of basques that you can put on when you try on the dresses and underskirts in real sizes too
I tried on about 15 dresses while I was there, and several tiaras and veils, nothing was too much troube (even though I had to be pinned into a lot of the dresses as I am a size 16-18 with big boobs!) as the samples go up to a size 28.
The whole 2 hours went far too quick, and I can't wait to go back in September too!

I can also agree - I bought my dress from there recently (married on 19th June!) and Lucy and Paula were fantastic - Ronald Joyce actually made my dress wrong and Lucy/Paula put it right and were also really good about it.
Can't say fairer than that!!!!

I get married in September, I have bought my wedding dress from the Big Day too and they were lovely! It was amazing to try on so many dresses that you could actually get into and not just have held up in front of you!
I can't wait to go back and have my final fitting!

I would whole heartedly recommend them too, I was dreading going shopping for a wedding dress but it was excellent and bought one there and then. I also bought a dress I really didn't like on the hanger! x
