Subject: Day 1 of the diet!
Hi ladies,

I've finally decided to get my backside into gear and set about losing the 3 and a half stone I've put on in the last 6 years. I've been wanting to do something about my weight for a long time, I've been feeling very down about the way I look and feel, and I also worry about the affect my weight has on my health too. It all came to a head on Friday night. My mum had been sorting through the 1000's of photos she has, and gave me a box to go through. In this box there were lots of photos of me between the ages of 18 and 22 (I'm 28 now) and I was shocked at just how slim, happy and healthy I looked. I had always been convinced that I was fat, even when I was only a size 12-14 (I have big boobs, hence the size 14 tops!)
So, cut to Saturday afternoon and I got in touch with the gym I used to be a member of before I had my son, and made an appointment to discuss joining again on Monday afternoon, before I could change my mind!
I have got my assessment tomorrow afternoon at 1.30pm, I wanted to get started as soon as possible, and this afternoon I have dug out all my old Slimming World books. I can't afford the gym and SW, so thought the gym was the better option as I can buy SW magazine every month.
I'm already feeling a lot more positive about myself just by taking these small steps on the long road to being happy and healthy again!
I have got 15 months to lose the weight, which I know is a lot longer than I need to lose 3 stone, but I want this to be a new way of life for me, not just a quick fix. And I don't want to run the risk of putting all the weight back on again, so I'm going to take it slow and steady!

Just weighed myself on my Wii Fit, I'm 14st 2lb OMG! Far worse than I thought, I'm only 5ft 3!

So ladies, wish me luck and I'll report back tomorrow!

Good luck!
I find the wii fit scales a bit unreliable tbh, probably worth investing in some proper scales if you arent going back to group.
I think you can still register on the Slimming World website even if you arent in a group - you can then generally find out the password for the website to access the extra bits like syns online (this week its chicken). Martin Lewis' moneysavingexpert website has a few slimming world forums that are generally pretty active if you run out of inspiration here.
I've lost a stone and a half since I started 3 months ago - not a rapid loss like some diets, but its sustainable, and apart from cutting out a lot of alcohol, in most ways I don't feel like I'm depriving myself of too much nice stuff

Just want to wish you luck, the first steps always the hardest as they say but once you get going and start seeing results you will be happy. Slow and steady is a great way to think, its what Ive been doing,I started doing WW after Xmas and on average have lost about 2lb a week and in total 2 stone with 1 to go before August.
Let us know how you get on xx

Thanks girls!
I'm going to just stick to the scales at the gym rather than buy my own. I know what I'm like, I'd be weighing myself every day if I had some scales in my bathroom, I've done it before lol!
Congratulations on bothe of your weight losses by the way! I hope I can do as well as you both have!

Well, its day 3 now and things are going well. Went to the gym yesterday. I did intend to spend an hour in the gym and then go for a swim, but I felt that knackered after the gym that I thought if I go for a swim as well I won't have the energy to drive home!
Went to the gym straight from work again today and swam 40 lenghts and I feel really good now! I've also been doing well sticking to the SW diet, might have a bit of a wobble tonight though because we're going to book our honeymoon then going out for tea, but I think I deserve a treat! And then back to the gym tomorrow as I'm going out on Saturday night, so I need to do something to counteract the wine I will be drinking!

2 weeks in and I weighed myself at the gym this morning and I have lost 7lb's!!!! I am SO happy and proud of myself. Especially since I've had 2 boozey nights out because of family birthdays.
I've been going to the gym 3 or 4 times a week doing either and hour in the gym or swimming 40 lengths, or sometimes both (not 40 lengths as well as the gym though, more like 20, I'm not Superwoman!) I've not changed my diet too much, just cut down my portion sizes a bit. I've always eaten pretty healthily, I guess I'm just the sort who needs to do regular exercise to shift the pounds.

If I can do it girls, anyone can. Keep up the good work!

Wow thats brilliant! Just wanted to say a massive well done - hope you've been getting support from somewhere as it looks like this thread has been pretty quiet! I have 6lbs left to lose but the last ones are the hardest! Very slow going at the moment but will keep going. I'm not a great swimmer but am going tomorrow for the first time in a couple of yrs and I'm aiming for 40 lengths.

You must be feeling fab! Many congrats again and keep it up!

Thanks Mrs_Martin2B, I really have been working sooo hard. My H2B, parents and friend are being really supportive. My mum has even offered to buy me a whole new wardrobe of clothes if I lose 3 stone. Now if thats not an incentive I don't know what is!
I am a bit surprised b y the lack of support on here, but oh well, it feels good just writing it down and making it even more real if ou know what I mean?!
Anyway, there will be another update soon!

i just came across your thread, and i weigh around 14st, and i also have 3st to lose for my wedding in february.

I must say well done for losing half a stone so quickly! I lost 2 stone last year, fairly easily as it was baby weight, but im finding it hard this year.

I find im losing weight, then i put it back on! 2 days ago i was 13st10, today i'm 13st 13!

I tried running a couple of weeks ago, but as i haven't done that since school (27 now!) it killed me! It felt like my lungs were on fire!

Im not too confident to go to the gym like you, but you have given me the incentive to start swimming again.

Well done and thanks! x x x

Hi ellie@lostie, first can I say you have also found a fellow lost fan!!!!

Like you the last time I ran was about 15 years ago (I'm 28 now!) but I ran for the first time at the gym last friday for a whole 8 minutes altogether (interval training, 1 min walking, 1 min jogging!) Although with the number of 'haven't you got black eyes now' comments from family and friends afterwards, it made me remember why I didn't run!

I'm so pleased that I've given you the confidence to go swimming, that really made me happy!
I try and kid myself that mines baby weight, but seen as how my sone is 6 I can't really get away with that. What shocked me into action the most was when I weighed myself and realised I weighed 2lb's more than when I was 8 months pregnant! Now that's not good. I lost a lot after I had my son, but then I got post natal depression and put a lot back on, then my first husband left me on Boxing DAy 2006, and that really knocked me for six and more weight piled on.
Whereabouts are you getting married? February seems so close, I've got to wait til August 2011!
