Am I the only one having a non-forces wedding with my Navy H2B?

Been on YAYW for a while now but never posted in the Forces B2B section, mainly because the only thing on here is getting uniforms for page boys and things, which isn't relevant to us. Just wondered if there were any other forces b2bs who aren't actually having a forces-related wedding?

Yeah sure we talked about him wearing his ones etc, but he just turned around and said he wanted the day to be about us, not about his job, and that you wouldn't expect a mechanic to get married in his overalls.. so why would it be any different for his job?

I can't be the only one surely?? I don't think we're having anything navy related at all at the wedding :S apart from half our guests of course!

Haven't got anything against anyone having a forces-related wedding, I just don't think it's for us

Hiya we spoke about havin one aswell an he said that his job is his job he wants it to be a day were he can remember it bein our day not related to work.yea we are havin some people from his job at the weddin as he is based in germany an its so close 2 xmas but some will be comin but were not havin a forces weddin either x

My MIL2B just keeps moaning on and on about what a shame it is that he wont be in his uniform etc.. and we just think oh for god's sake - it's about us - not his job!

LOTS of navy there though. but of course they won't be in uniform, just normal lads!

yea his mum wanted him to wear it aswell i said to him its up to him its his day aswell not just mine id rather him be comftable an happy to look 5 years down the line an say i made the right choice not to wear it.its only one day he wears his uniform every day an just wants one day not to be about his job which is understanable i wuldnt go to it in work clothes so dont see why he sould if hes not happy to x

Yeah I feel exactly the same way! I'm hardly going to want to get married in a suit so why would he want to in his uniform! I mean admittedly his ones are not his every day uniform but still. he just says, like yours did, that he wanted the day to be about us. Not our jobs.

But then he's one of those guys where the navy is just a job to him, not his life. He comes home after work and that's that. He's just my H2B - not Naval Airman Hunt!

My H2B is in the army and refuses to have a military wedding at all. Im Scottish, so we're having a Scottish themed wedding instead xx

I didnt have anything do do with the military at mine im like you and it really wasnt what i wanted for my day.
From day one we never even considered he would wear his number ones its his day aswell and he wanted a nice suit hes sick of wearing a RAF uniform! x

Hi, im kinda of not having a non-forces wedding. H2B, bestman and my dad all refuse to wear there uniform as they associate with work. However i am getting married in the Chruch on base as the vicar is a really good friend to my H2B and its a beautiful chruch. x

Aww well that's a fair compromise!

H2B hit me with it today, I had just booked our honeymoon, and he's now I shouldn't have done because he might not be able to get the time off and might be on ship - cheers for telling me that!

Well I'm hoping that we've booked it now so they're gonna have to honour it - it is his wedding and honeymoon after all!

We had the same problem as H2B drafts have all changed since we booked the wedding, hes now joining a new ship and we were unsure what would be happening, thankfully it has fallen into place and his off watch month is 2 weeks before the wedding than rejoin 2 days after honeymoon.

Fingers crossed they will sort it for your H2B x
