Subject: Advertising on the chat room - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
We have recently found people advertising on the chat room by pretending to be genuine users and recommending their own companies and services.
ANY form of advertising on the chat room is prohibited and may result in users being banned from the site.
We are aware that this is only a very small proportion of users, and that the majority of recommendations are genuine and made in good faith.
So we would ask that users are vigilant and inform the Web Editor of any advertisements within the chat room so that they can be removed.
Thank you for your cooperation
Best wishes

Hi Melanie
We don't give out people's email addresses, so I suspect that it was sent using the email button at the bottom of one of your posts.
I have sent you a private message with my email address so please forward the email on to me along with the email address so we can contact this photographer and stop them sending anymore advertisements in emails.
We would recommend that anyone else receiving advertisements in this way contact us with the details of the supplier.
Best wishes

HI "webeditor"
I did see an advert yesterday but as new to the site didn't feel it should be there but wasn't sure of rules. I can't find it now and hopefully that is because it has been removed - it was someone advertising their hair/beauty services. Whilst looking around I found this posting which appears to be an advert to me - wasn't sure how to report it without giving them further space! Should I just hit the moderator button? Anyway, enjoying yoru site, and here it is...

Hi Foo
All you need to do is click the report to moderator button beneath any post that you feel doesn't comply with the chat room rules, then I'll take a look and take action if necessary. Don't worry if you report something that turns out to be fine - that's not a problem, it won't get automatically removed just because you've reported it, it just means I'll look into it to see what (if anything) needs to be done. The post you've pasted is advertising a service, so I'll remove it.
Hope that makes sense, just give me a shout if you're not sure of anything.

Thanks Web Editor
hitting the moderator button felt a bit serious but another time I will just do that. BIt simpler than mucking about writing a message!

Hello,
I actually didn't see or read the "chat room" rules before posting today. For that, I am so sorry. I got two upset e-mails from two brides. I really am sorry! I wanted to let you know from my end I jumped in to soon without reading first! II was so excited and passionate about my own wedding that I started writing wedding songs for wedding due to the lack of "new material" out there. I was so excited at the response I was getting, I wanted to share that with the girls. Our "official website" isn't even up, it's just my own personal site where I have posted the songs for download. I am only sharing this so you know the situation. Again I am so sorry for posting.
Also, I am logged as "bride to be" I have tried to change that since I got married in 2002! Any advice. Thanks

Subject: Where can I post general questions?
Hello
I'm finding it difficult to track my previous responses to various topics. Is there a quick way to do this without having to go through each topic or choosing to be notified of a response? Also, where do I ask general questions like this?!!
Cheers
sos

Well look at it this way, us brides to be like to go from recommendations from other bride to bes' personal experience so we know that potentially if we choose to use that company/service we are likely to be making a good choice.
There is also the point that companies pay an awful lot of money to advertise their company and products on here so why should you get to advertise for free?

Web editor, I posted about my wedding dress and it had been edited saying I was advertising, I am confused as all I was doing was trying to find out if anyone else was having the same make dress as me and I then described my design, I looked at other posts beforehand and other people discuss the designs and colours as well as posting links to pic's, so what was wrong with my post, it wasn't any different to other brides posts.

I'm both a photographer AND a B2B, therefore I see it from both points of view. I understand that we'd all like to be able to use this site without being inundated with adverts for services, but at the same time, I think there should be some leniency for those that were actually asking about others' services.
And if I want to recommend my friend as a photographer, surely I should be able to?? I have had a working relationship with her, but we studied together, and I have hired her to photograph my brother's wedding this Saturday. Would this be seen as advertising, or a recommendation? It's not always clear.
I haven't advertised myself here, as I'm not offering my services. I'm just here to plan my own wedding, and not to make money.

Oops-sorry I broke the forum rules.
My apologies.
Could i suggest having a for sale section on the site?
My wedding was cancelled and I have a lot of brand new items that I thought users on here may be interested in purchasing as clearly, i have no use for them now.
Once again, apologies webmaster
