Hi Sally,

Yes I'm getting married in Allerton Castle on Saturday 1st December this year.

We live in London so it has been difficult going up and down the M1 to arrange suppliers but we are back up there this weekend and we are meeting with Allerton Castle to finalise menu's, order for the day...etc

Hi girls..!!

I can't believe you've replyed to this post after so long. I was beginning to think i was the only one getting married there. How lucky are we getting married at Allerton!!

080808 bride you're just before us, how are your plans going? We're fairly organised, but still have lots to do. We also have to go up for our meeting to sort out menus etc soon. We live in London so it's tricky finding time to go up, but i'm originally from the area so i visit friends and family at the same time so more than one reason to go up.

Would love to hear how your planning your days and compair notes!

Hi Sally,

How exciting you getting married just after us at Allerton - we def need to comapare notes!!
Yes we are v lucky as the venue is amazing so it is all v exciting! Fingers crossed we dont have a repeat of last year and that August is a nice sunny month for us this year!

Did you go up for the wedding fair in Feb? We went and it was nice to see it again as we booked last October so had not been to see it since then. The library was open this time so nice to see that.

Planning wise we are v slack!! Got some of the major stuff - flowers booked ( Diane Penny) although not chosen anything yet, photographer sorted ( Norma Dean) and music, we having a string thingy in day and party band for the night. Got my dress, got the bridesmaid dresses but still lots else to do!! Mens outfits and statioanry are next on our list, oh and honeymoon booking!

Would love to hear how you are both getting on too.

How have the castle been? We havent really needed to contact them much so far as we had a lot of recommendations for people but will get a better idea after the planning meeting am sure.

Are you having hair and make up done and if so with who! I am not sure if going to do own make up but def want hair up but dont know of anyone nearby - plus have a dilema about the bridesmaids as have 4 ( I know - a lot for a civil ceremony - it got a bit out of hand!!) and not sure what to do about them and their hair as it all getting v pricey ( again I know - i shouldnt have 4 if wanting to keep costs down!! I was v naive!!)

Any help appreciated!!

Hi Soo,

I can't tell you how excited i am to finally have found someone getting married at the same place to chat to!! It's so nice to be able to compair notes!

We went to the their wedding fair in September, and you're right, it's lovely to be able to go back there. I've actually been a few times now as took my parents and best friend to have a nose. We've also got to take our florist so he can see where we'll need flowers. Want to try and keep some costs down and thought that as the castle is so gorgeous and quite fussy anyway, we don't really need over the top flowers.

We've booked all the main stuff, cakes, flowers ( a guy from Ripon) music (we're going with event music) Ordered my dress and got bridesmaids, but still need men's suits, still unsure about exactly what they'll be wearing, but have a good idea. We've just found a fab stationary lady, so waiting for some samples to be sent to us. We've just recently been booking the honeymoon, which is VERY exciting!!

So far found the castle great. Claudie has been so helping, i spoke to her only this week asking more questions, she must be sick of me!! But i'm sure, like you, we'll have much more contact nearer the time and after our planning meeting, which i can't wait for.

I've booked some fab ladies to do our hair and makeup! The company are Debonesse. You'll have seen them at the wedding fair i'm sure. They do hair & make which i thought would be so much easier. Really lovely people and Deborah has totally put my mind at rest. Look at their website. I'm having 3 adult bridesmaids, and can relate to your expense concerns. I've decided that myself and my mum will be the only ones to have the trail makeup/hair, so that cuts the cost by a lot. Then one of my b/maids has said she'd much rather do her own hair, so that takes the cost down quite a bit.

So now to ask you questions....!

Where are you from? I'm from up North, but we live some in London, so we've got a lot of guests coming up for the wedding. Because of this we've decided it makes more sense to put on a coach and mini bus to get them to and from the wedding. Just wondered if you could recommend any coach company's?

Have you decided what your walking down the isle too? I have a favourite clasical tune i really wanted, but my boyfriends best mates wife walked down the isle to it last year, i was gutted! So i need to re think.

Oooh..what else..! Have you decided on what your going to have to eat? That's the fun bit!! Are you going to have to taster meal? We wanted to but when we heard to price have decided to be brave and not bother.

What colour schemes are you going for?

I can't think of anything else at the mo, but i'm sure i will!!

Hope the above helps a little bit..

Sally..x

HI Sally!

Yeah! We can bug each other with planning queries etc now and compare notes! There is so much to sort that it can be quite overwhelming even when i am desperately trying to not be bridezilla!!

Thanks for top tip re hair and make up - will go check out in a mo. One of my bridesmaid has short hair so I am hoping she will say she will do her own too which will help with costs!

I am from Leeds so easy for us to sort things out but i still dont seem to be finding the time! We are thinking about coach or mini bus scenario too once we work out where majority of people are staying, h2b family from Leicester so quite a few will be coming up to stay too. Eddie Brown tours was the company at the wedding fair but havent checked them out yet.

I think I am know what i want to walk down the ailse too - dont know the name! We having the event music co too! they have been really nice and helpful.
No idea what we going to eat yet! Have you decided? I dont think we are going to do the taster menu either as sooo expensive! I dont know how they get away with that to be honest ! So we going to go in blind too! A friend of mine got married the other year at Harewood House and Dine are the event company there too and food was amazing so not too worried that it will be awful or anything.

Colour scheme is blue and ivory and green - what about yours? Am hoping once got the flowers sorted I will be able to see how the colours will work better for the detaily bits etc. The bridesmaids are wearing blue but is quite a bright colbalt blue so dont want that to take over really hence the white and green etc.

So - more questions! Where is your cake from and more importantly where are you going honeymoon!! Thats the exciting bit! We change our mind each week re destinations! This week it is Mauritius!

I think i have rambled enough now! Sorry from me too for the length!!
