Hi,
I'm not that much help really! I had my hair and make up trials about 7 weeks before our wedding day but my hairdresser is a friend and I had already used the make up lady previously when had a boudior shoot done so I knew I would love what they both did. If I had been going with someone I didnt know I def would had them a bit earlier! Have you booked anyone yet? x

Hi there im a bridal hair specialist and i usually recommend about 6-8 weeks before, then you are likely to be certain how you would like your hair and the style will remain fresh in yours and the hairdressers minds ready for the all important day hope this helps ! Lucy x

Well, I ended up having 3 make-up trials and 2 hair trials as I was unhappy with the first ones, so I would suggest not leaving it too late!

About 6 months before the wedding, I went to watch someone else's trial (this particular hair and make-up team, did open trial nights on a Tuesday, so I could just turn up and watch) and thought I was happy with my choice. I then had my own trial in mid Dec, approx 2 months before the wedding.

Both hair and make-up were ok but just didn't feel totally right so I started researching alternative people in early Jan which was a bit stressful but meant I found the right person and switched. Really glad I did.

Moral of the story is leave enough time to change if you need to, but not enough time to forget what you looked like or change your mind too much re styles/colours etc! Hope that helps.

It's a good idea to get your makeup trial when you know what colour your dress is going to be (ivory, white, etc) and when you know what kind of hair / veil you're having. Then you know your makeup will be perfectly suited to every part of your wedding outfit. Maybe 2 months before, is a good idea. It also means you're not stressing when it is closer to the date.

I was worried I wouldn't like the people I chose - so I had 'non-wedding' hair and makeup trials around 6 months before. Booked into the hairdressers and beauty salon to do hair and makeup before someone else's wedding - so I looked great and by the time it came for my 'wedding' trials - i was confident in their work. Luckily i didn't have to go with other people, otherwise this may have been an expensive way to do it! x
