Our wedding report 24-10-10

We met back in 95, in the heady days of clubbing, when dance music was still decent! My best friend (who met her hubby at the same time) and I spent our weekends dancing the night away with our fellas, but I didn’t for one moment think I would end up married to B, we were just having fun!

I went off to uni in Wales and was devastated when after a few months, B finished with me, saying that he didn’t want to distract me from my studies…

Fast forward 12 years, and who should pop up on Facebook but a very welcome blast from my past. It was at this time when things seemed tough, I was miserable in my job, I had experienced many disastrous relationships and had been badly hurt one time too many. B was there to mend my broken heart. We spent HOURS chatting on MSN, reminiscing about the 90’s, and even jokingly planning a wedding , as we said we would marry each other if no one else would have us!!

6 months went by and I decided I would go and visit B – he lived 4 hours away from me at this point. It was like we’d never been apart, and we got on like a house on fire still. Valentine’s day arrived and we decided to give our long lost relationship another go.

After a slight blip a few months into the relationship, we were stronger than ever, and even went on an amazing holiday with my parents to the Lakes in Italy. I eventually found a new job near where B lived and moved in with him in the summer of 2009.

August 29th was a special day – as it was the day B asked me to be his wife. I knew it was coming, as we had talked about it so much, and he was determined to buy me a Tiffany ring. So off we trotted to Bond Street, and it took me all of 10 minutes to decide which little sparkler I wanted! B surprised me with the proposal itself, which was right at the top of the London eye on a champagne flight!!

Within a few weeks of the proposal, we decided upon the venue for our wedding, the beautiful Old Luxters Barn in Hambleden. It was the most gorgeous old converted barn right in the middle of the Chilterns.

We spent a year planning and preparing for our big day, and although it was stressful at times, the best feeling was seeing it all come together on our wedding day, the 24th October 2010.

In true wedding day style, lots of things went wrong, but they all added to how special the day was!
1. I nearly forgot the flowers and my sister’s reading before leaving the room where I was staying.
2. The second registrar was involved in an accident getting to the wedding, and the wedding nearly didn’t go ahead! (which I didn’t know about, thank god!!)
3. The farmer living near the venue had a dispute with the owners, and decided to start chainsawing through the ceremony!
4. Random ramblers tried to get in the barn during the ceremony and were even trying to get in on our pictures!

I can honestly say that our wedding day was the best day of my life, and I couldn’t stop smiling all day! I was literally grinning from ear to ear! I was quite calm on the morning of the wedding from when I woke up, to getting ready, to arriving at the venue. As I heard the first strains of Canon in D, I started to feel a little teary, but luckily I had my lovely Dad to hold my hand and guide me down the aisle! Seeing my man standing at the end of the aisle calmed me greatly, and as soon as I stood next to him, I grabbed his hand and didn’t let go!
When it came to saying our vows, I was fine until I had to say his middle name (Sebastian!!) which made me laugh, then I promptly burst into tears, and blubbed through the rest of them!

I felt so elated when the registrar pronounced us man and wife and everything felt like a new start after that.
