Hi NYE 2010,

So pleased to hear from you, I was beginning to think that I was the only one!

Planning is going well, albeit stressful at times!
So far I have booked.. the venue, dj, photographer, wedding singer, piper for midnight, chair covers & table decorations and a candy buffet.
I also have my dress, tiara and shoes (my avatar).
Going to see the new vicar next week so will hopefully be able to book the church.

How's your planning coming along, where are you getting married?

P.S. Welcome to the forums

wow you are doing well. ive only booked the church and venue so far and ive decided on a color scheme, gold and silver!
im getting married in our home town in norfolk, how bout you?
piper for midnight, brilliant idea

Gold and silver sounds brill and very sparkley!
I'm going for the winterwonderland theme, white, silver and unsure yet on ice or midnight blue. Oh and lots of snowflakes!

I found it difficult to find somewhere that does weddings on NYE, did you have this problem too?
I couldn't find anywhere locally so I'm getting married about a hour or so away in York.

The piper was a thought that I had only a couple of weeks ago and it turns out it is their busiest night of the year!

DJ's and entertainment etc get booked up pretty quickly for our date so this is why I've booked them (I'm not really an organised person.. honestly!)

aww that sounds lovely :\) winter wonderland theme!
my church is really good actually so ive not had a problem with the date, but the reception was the hardest with a budget, the church is always the same price but the venue will always burn you as its a bank holiday kinda thing, well it is where im having mine, its a hotel, with the private function room to have sit down meal etc, £22 a head, they added £2 per person for the fact that its new yrs eve. not to mention the rest!!

how much is the piper? i think im going to get booking the dj etc so we know we've got it!

I found that when im ringing around and booking the the church and venue etc that there's a few seconds silence when i say New years eve haha they say your getting married on new years eve??? we must be adventurous brides hehe !

Go us adventurous brides!

I'm so pleased you haven't had a problem with your church. This is the main thing I need to sort, the original vicar was in the process of leaving and he wasn't keen on the date, even told us to change it as he said vicars go on holiday after Xmas! There isn't a replacement yet but we are meeting the Dean (who is looking after the church) next week, he sounds much more accomodating so fingers crossed!

Some places I rang wanted to charge ON TOP of their usual prices... wait for it... 10-15k!! Erm, no thank you!

There doesn't seem to be all that many pipers in Yorkshire lol. I had a few quotes and I'm paying £250 for probably around 20mins, btw this was by far the cheapest!

DJ's double (at least) their prices, we are paying £600.

Yeah people do seem to find our date amusing lol. One of the suppliers said to h2b, who's bright idea was that?! lol.

Hope it posts this time, this is my 3rd attempt, site keeps swallowing it.. grrr!!

yes i know i think were in for big spending!
fingers and toes crossed for your church, theres always one thing ay!
are you on facebook?

ive just rang the dj that done my birthday party and he was £150 back then and for new yrs eve he wants £400,,,massive difference! never mind its worth it in the end, we will have a special day no matter of the cost, im only planning on doing it once.... i hope lol!!

Thanks, I'll let you know how we get on with the church.

£400 is a big difference to what you paid the DJ for your birthday but hey ho like you said we are only going to do this once! Well done on speaking to him, i'm pleased he's still available for you.

Our photographer said that she did think about adding £300-400 on top of her usual price but decided not to, I said well we wouldn't have booked you if you had! lol. I'm really pleased with her though, her pics are fab and she is also a professional hair and make-up artist and is doing mine and bm's hair and make-up, two birds with one stone eh?!

What's next on your list of things to do?

xxx

P.S. I'm not on Facebook, sorry

Hey Misty,:\)

Thanks for the reply. Just been reading through this page & it sounds like you've got it pretty much done, lol. We are having a scottish wedding (my h2b is scottish) so the piper goes without saying really. Thankfully I have a friend who has recently started her own photography business & she's amazing so we have been offered a great deal on the pics. I have my dress which is stunning but apart from the venue (which thankfully includes the catering) we still have everything else to organise.

Have you decided where you are going on your honeymoon yet? We were thinking of a log cabin somewhere, possibly Austria/Switzerland, but can't get any prices at the moment. :\(They won't even quote us a rough guess which is really fraustrating but never mind, lol.

Hope everything is going smoothly & to plan for you hun.:\)

Take care,
xx

Hi girls, I don't believe I've just sat & wrote a lovely long message to you both & it's disappeared!!! Never mind, lol. I'm so pleased to see we are gettng married on the same day. I think it's going to be fab. I'm so excited, especially after going to the venue yesterday & finding out that we are allowed to have a whisky & a vodka fountain for midnight. I think that was my darling h2b's main concern. Can you tell I'm marrying a scotsman??? lol. We also changed the menu's to our liking wihout any further cost, which is great. Everything seems to be going fine, at the moment anyway.
So have either of you got much left to do then or are you well organised (unlike us)? What part are you looking forward to the most?

Hi Tj,

I'm so pleased that you have found our very small group! Although I've not heard from NYE 2010 for a while, are you still with us hun?

You sound to be really organised, afterall we have 415 days to go.. woohooo!!

I love the idea of the whiskey and vodka fountain at midnight, sounds brill!! I'm having the piper and haggis paraded round the room (suggestion from venue).

Sorted my car at the weekend, having a Beauford so I just have rings, suits and b/m dresses to sort, apart from all the little things.. music, readings etc etc etc etc.. the list is endless! lol.

Going for my cake tasting and design tonight.. I've really been looking forward to this for weeks.. can't wait!

Flights aren't released until about a year before so we've not long to wait. I fancied 7 nights in Barbados followed by a 7 night Caribbean Cruise but h2b ain't too keen on the cost lol. There are so many lovely places out there, I'm a really indecisive person and think the honeymoon may end up being more frustrating than the wedding! lol.

Unfortunately the site does tend to swallow replys, this is my 3rd attempt trying to post this! xx

Girls... we're in the 300's!!

How's your plans coming along? x
28/11/2009 at 08:54
Hey Misty, tjjoinson here, well I was but I forgot my details so have had to make a new profile, lol. That's nothing new for me though.

How you doing hun? How are your plans going? Sorry I've not been here for a little while but I've had a family crisis or two. My mum had an accident & after almost a month in hospital she's died on 15th of this month so my head's all over the place. Not only that I've just found out yesterday that one of my bridesmaids is pregnant, she also happens to be my 16 year old daughter! So at the moment I've not much of a concentration span.

Never mind ,it's life I suppose. So how's things with you are you keeping well.

Ooh, I forgot to ask how your cake tasting went?

Hi TJ/MrsD,

It's good to hear from you!

I'm so so sorry to hear of your news, hope you are ok hun?
I've a 16 year old son so can sort of relate to what you are going through, my email buttons enabled if ever you want a chat.

You've really been through the mill, don't worry about the wedding plans.. everything will fall into place when you feel more able to concentrate. I think if it was me, arrangements would be the last thing on my mind!

The cake tasting was brilliant, not decided on my final design yet though. Better still, my sister has offered to pay for it for us!

Take care hun, don't forget I'm here if ever you need a chat.

Thanks Misty,

I'm sure I'll be fine. Just need a little time & thankfully we have 396 days to go. : ) I've plenty of time to get sorted. Only thing is when we get married, I could be a grandma & I'm only 34(will be on thursday)!!! : 0 I don't like teenagers very much at the moment, lol.

I think I'll wait until xmas is over with & then focus on the rest of our plans. It's great news that your sister has offered to pay for your cake. I'm getting excited for you, lol. You'll have to let me know what you choose in the end. Hopefully by then I'll have worked out how to upload pictures & then I'll be able to show you my dress. It's like a fairytale dress which is quite fitting as my h2b calls me Cinders & last year he bought me glass slippers for xmas. : ) Bless him, lol.

I'll be back on at the weekend probably as I've a busy week but if you need me just email. I check it daily so I'll get back to you.

Take care hun.

Hi MrsD,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MRSD2BE, HAPPY TO YOUUUUUU!!!!!

(I've been waiting until today to reply to you, just so I could do that! lol)

Hope you are having a fantastic day!!

I hope you are feeling a little better about things now hun.
I know it can't be easy but If it helps, the saying is 'for every life that is lost a new one begins', I really believe this. When my gran died a number of years ago both my sister and I unexpectedly fell pregnant. My sis had gone 8 years from having her daughter and I'd gone 5 years from having my son (my son is 16 and daughter almost 11 now). I truly believe to this day that my gran sent them and my daughter is the double of her!

I can't wait to see your dress, it sounds wonderful!! Really love how your h2b calls you Cinders! - its so sweet, mine just calls me 'love' lol. My dress is quite big, it has a ruched bottom and lots of silver detail on the bodice which goes down to the top part of the skirt. H2b thinks I'm wearing black, tried to throw him completely off track but he loves the idea of a black dress.. he's going to be in for a shock, my dress is very slightly off white! lol.

I too am trying to put wedding plans on hold until after Xmas but it's so hard to switch off from it lol. I need to get cracking though as I've barely started Xmas shopping yet.. ooops!

You said you have a busy week so you must be glad it's almost the weekend.. yayyy!! We are going to church this Sunday and then popping into our venue to view it set up in this years theme. They are going to do the same theme for us next year which is 'Ice White'.
We are then spending the rest of the day shopping.

Have a brilliant day and hope you have lots of lovely pressies!!

Take care hun and chat soon xxx
