Hello lovely ladies!

Has anyone got any inspirational ideas for wedding favours???

As we're getting married on the 22/12/12 my mum came up with the idea of making everyone a small stocking (she is quite crafty!) with guests names embroidered on the front - they will also act as a place marker and a little something for our guests to take away. I'm just not sure what to put inside?

I really like a company called Choc-on-choc (www.chocolateonchocolate.co.uk) who make beautiful sparkly chocs (you can't really see this on their site). We're having our honeymoon in the Lake District so thought I could put kendal mint cake and a written copy of one of our favourite walks inside or is this a bit naff?? I am probably over-worrying about this and should plump for the old sugared almond classic!

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

xx Jo

I'm getting married in the Lakes and am using grasmere gingerbread for my favours. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water.

That's a fab choice! Oooh I could do with a nice cuppa and a slice now!

I love the stocking idea, if I was a guest I would really appreciate that . Not sure what you could fill it with... maybe a candy cane or perhaps that is a tad American. Have you got a theme?

Hiya, I'm getting married the day before you, and am thinking the exact same thing, about making stockings for everyone. if i do, i'll put chocolate coins in them as they're just so christmassy

I'm a Christmas bride too and I'm also going for the stockings as favours. For the content I can't decide between candy canes, chocolate coins or small gingerbread men. I've actually kept some candy canes and coins from last Christmas so I'll know the sizes when I come to make them, this takes a lot of willpower not to eat!

Oooh little gingerbread men would be lovely too... what an idea! also you could make these yourself so would save money

I like the gingerbread men idea too- or something else home baked. I think anything would be better than a sugared almond!

I think there are so many lovely Christmas things that we are spoilt for choice.

My ideas might be better than my baking however, last time I made gingerbread men they were like bricks and teeth were lost! Hey ho plenty of time to practice

Def candy canes and choc coins - they are very christmassy!

I love the idea of little Ginger bread people in stockings. But - I would definitely go for an easier alternative as I hate baking, and think it would be the last thing on my mind when you have christmas and a wedding to think about. Maybe a chocolate coin, a candy cane, and an orange lollipop (in lieu of an actual tangerine!) or even a little "toy" so its like the kind of stocking that Santa used to leave x

Love the stocking idea - I had thought of silver crackers with little white luggage labels on the end with people's names on but I prefer the stocking idea...

I picked up something from ebay which is very cheap so doesn't matter if I decide not to use them but I loved them when they turned up:

They are snowflake organsa favour bags in case you can't open the link...

I saw ready made mini gingerbread men in Tesco's today, about 20 in a tub. Buy these then customise with icing and bits?

I'm terrible, already i have got crackers for the table, photo vouchers from my photographer (so everyone can take a photograph of their choice form the day home with them) AND photo baubles as favours for my guests, I am planning on candy canes AND mini stockings with chocolate coins in too. for the children i will be doing stockings, with bits inside to keep them buys, not sure what yet, colouring books, sweeties that sort of thing!
