Ooohh me me!!! We are having our reception there 26th June this year.

Are you having your wedding there? Just reception or the ceremony too?

I'm jealous, we wanted ours there but couldn't afford it.

Yeah the 1st of May. Just the reception, ceremony in Dundee. How many poeple do you have going? I am a bit worried it maybe too big!Have you been to a wedding there before? Someone I know has and they said it was cold. xx

Starshine where are you getting married? x

We are having the ceremoney at our church down in Crail. I know what you mean about the size...I'm not worried but H2B thinks it might look a bit empty and wants to add loads of people that we can't really afford to the guest list! The reason I think it will be OK is that we are getting the venue dressing people to put drapes up to section some areas off so its not like its going to be one big space. We are having 80 for a sit down meal in the day and then another 100 to make 180 at night. I've never been to a wedding there but went to a fancy dress birthday party. There were about 120 there and it had a great atmosphere

Also planning on drapes, but we couldn't afford the venue dressing people so just hoping that what we do ourselves and the lighting guy will be ok. We are having 110 for meal during day and another 100 at night. Have you seen it set up for a wedding? Not sure what pictures you have looked at on the internet, but there are some lovely ones taken by elemental photography. xx

Hey, first post lol we're getting married at Most Holy Trinity in Crail and having our reception at Kinkell Byre next June It's an amazing venue, so different to anywhere else! They are all going to be fantastic weddings!!

We're just dressing it ourselves with drapes, candles, lanterns, flowers (some fake, some fresh)etc. Also hoping to hire some potted trees but not having much luck so far. We're from Glasgow (have a house in Crail and thats where my Fiance proposed!!) so we have to invite everyone for the whole day as we can't expect guests to traipse all the way up from Glasgow for an evening do (even tho that would be better for our budget!) so we're inviting 200 but guessing 180 will be more realistic.

I'm thinking we'll make the most of the garden out the back, the front with the seaview for the champagne reception and we'll make the room behind the main room into a children's area - it's a lot to oragnise eh?

Whats everyone elses ideas for Kinkell? Where ru hiring all the zillions of stuff from?! What bands etc are u having?

Would love to hear from the other Kinkell Brides!

Well after getting a ridiclulous quote from the venue dressing company (they wanted double in labour and "design" charges than they did for the actual hire items!) we are going to be doing most of the decorating ourselves the day before, and I have to say I'm really looking forward to it!. We are using St Andrews Catering for our food and bar and the owner Liz has done loads of functions there and is going to help us out loads. We will be using the caterhire company she uses for all the tables chairs and linen, plus we are getting some sofas and coffee tables from them too to create a chill out area on the area behind the main room. Are you getting Steven from i-light to do your lighting? He is quite expensive but we are thinking that with stunning lighting we wont need as much decoration, although we will be using drapes, some candles and we are hoping to get some big indoor plants from FIL2B who is a landscape gardener. We are also hoping to make use of the garden and are hiring some patio furniture sets so people can sit out there and going to put nice lanterns in the trees. I wanted to out hay bales and blankets out there but then rethought that people going out to sit on them to smoke after a few drinks might not be the safest idea!!

We are using a band called Ghost we we got through Hireaband. We will be using Kinkells PA system to play some background music during the meal too.

I grew up in Crail..I love the crazy little place. I miss it lots and can't wait to get back there for the wedding...we live in Malta now so only get back to visit now and then xx

Hello,

I am looking at Kinkell as a possible venue, we got engaged coming up for 2 years ago and i have been looking at venues since then and nothing has jumped out until now! It is so different and looks magical! I will have to do my sums as need to cost it out as having addtional costs for dressing etc. How are you getting on with planning?

I emailed Kinkell this week and they have said I can view the venue when it's been set up on the Friday so I may take them up on that offer - probably fall in love with it!

ooh im jealous, we went to a friends wedding there and it was just beautiful, such a nice setting looking out to the sea and quite a unique venue, they did the whole place up in 'fairy' lights, was one of the nicest weddings we've been to wish i could have found somewhere like that up our way

I was there for May ball this year and really had a look around and think its fab. What are you doing for bars etc and royughly how much would it cost to decorate. We are trying to work out budget etc but n ot sure what its going to cost at all. I know it will eventually all add up.

Hi I'm also getting married at the byre next August, we have had it booked since last october. It seemed ages away but time just seems to be passing so quick. Ive got most things booked but its all the finishing touches that take time and imagination - l think a dress has to be at the top of my list now.

Hey, our caterer is providing a bar, we are using the St Andrews catering, we have had kinkell booked since the begining of 2010 so ive just been buying bits of decoration each month after pay day, we were quite lucky that we had time on our side, however it seems to be creeping up now! heading up to Kinkel next weekend for another look around and for a chat with the caterer..I just fell in love with it the first time i saw it all lit up! x
