Hi everyone. I'm new to wedding forums but was hoping you could all help with your opinion of a Sunday Wedding? The venue that we would like is only available on a Sunday and both my partner and I are a bit worried that we will upset people by having the wedding on a Sunday. What do you all think? Anyone else booked a Sunday wedding? x

AussieBride, we ending up booking our wedding on a Sunday for the exact same reason. None of our guests have said anything negative about it at all, but at the end of the day you have to remember that it's not them you're trying to please. Above all else, you need to make the decision as to whether that date and venue are the ones for you because I'm sure the people who matter most to you both will be there no matter what.

sun weddings are fine (i marry easter sunday ) what you do need to think about tho, if its not a bank hol, people will have work the next day, so may not stay late at the reception if they haven't booked it off.

I'm a Sunday bride too - Saturdays are overrated

Hey!

We got married on a Sunday due to minimum numbers at our venue on Saturdays. It was absolutely fine. In fact if we had got married on a Saturday our guests would have had to take the Friday off due to location, so the fact our guests took the Monday off instead made no difference.

Don't be tricked into thinking things are cheaper for Sunday weddings though, we found no difference and in fact our registrar was more expensive due to it being a Sunday.

Have a fab day!!
xx

Personally I wouldn't have a Sunday wedding - I went to one and while it was lovely, as MACisgettingwed said, if it is not a bank holiday people will leave early. At this wedding lots of guests were not drinking and were heading home at 9pm to ensure they could get up for work the next day so the dance floor was pretty dead and it felt like the evening reception never really kicked into gear. But this may have been a reflection of the guests there, if yours are sufficiently fun I am sure the party will get in full swing.

Thanks for all of your comments. We've just booked our venue today! It will be a Sunday wedding. I'm really hoping that with plenty of notice, most of our guests will take the Monday off to really enjoy the night etc. My Fiance and I have taken Friday's off for Weddings in the past and not been bothered so we would hope our family and friends wouldn't mind taking a day off as well. FINGERS CROSSED! Really appreciate all of you feedback!

Yaaah! Congrats for booking, what venue is it?

Honestly don't worry, all our guests stayed right till the end. I think the fact they had taken a holiday on the Monday made them even more determined to enjoy themselves!!

In fact sine our guests were in the area on the Saturday too we had a lovely pre-wedding get together with all our guests. It really prolonged the weekend and was lovely to chat to everybody before the big day.

xx

Hi MrsDMDavies! Thanks for the congrats. We booked Meldrum House Hotel in Aberdeenshire. I'm so excited!!! I've been a bit worried about people leaving early and the wedding being dull but as you said, most people will take the Monday off and hopefully make the most of it by partying til' late! So glad to hear that you had a great experience with a Sunday Wedding - you've made me feel a lot better! xxx THANK YOU!

I think Sunday wedding's are fine, i have been to a few and I am looking to get married on a Sunday. I am thinking of sending out "save the date" cards to people so they know it's a Sunday and they can maybe take the Monday as a holiday from work. Just a thought....

We are getting married on a Sunday in October this year. We chose it because our venue had very limited availability and we chose the particular day as our preferred band were also available.

We sent out Save the Date cards more than a year in advance to give people plenty of notice and I've not had one single negative comment about the day. In fact as we are travelling back from Australia for the wedding, a lot of our guests are taking a few days off work to spend time with us. Plus if the wedding was a Friday, they would have to take that day off work anyway.

Another great thing is that every one of my preferred suppliers have been available and had no trouble getting them to work on Sundays. However, I have not found anything at all to be cheaper than a typical weekend wedding!

I really liked the idea of a Sunday wedding from the start and now really glad we chose that day.

ladyv83 & GeriOz - thanks so much for your comments. Venue's are getting booked so early that it seems to be a trend that Fridays/Sundays are the only options. I'm really excited about having the wedding on a Sunday now. As you said GeriOz, people would have to take a friday off work for a Friday wedding anyway so it shouldn't make a difference.

We are planning to send our save the dates 12 months beforehand (October this year) and then the invitations 4 months before the wedding in June next year. I like to be as organised as possible and with that much notice, no one can use the excuse of not getting time off (hopefully).

Best of luck to both of you for your upcoming Sunday weddings - I hope you have a brilliant day! xx
