Has anyone bought a ring from argos?

I am a little reluctant to spend 500+ on rings. We only want something simple.

Is it seen as taboo because it's a catalogue shop?

not a place I would look but only because there's a Warren James where we live and I get lots of nice inexpensive stuff from there.

We looked at Argos as my h2b was reluctant spend over the odds on what was basically the same 9ct gold ring from a designer shop, however had a closer look and the weight and quality didnt seem as good, we have gone half way between expensive and very cheap and bought ours from Ernest Jones, its a good heavyweight one was £350 for a 9ct extra heavy court shape. We even looked at H Samuel but they didnt seem to be as heavy there either.

I didn't bother with with stores, I went straight online for my wedding rings because they were a lot cheaper and I have faith in e-commerce

Have a look at the beautiful company if you want plain bands.

I bought my H2B's palladium ring from there. 4mm, £137... I thought it was a bargain!

My OH got his ring from Goldsmiths. The ring is titanium and cost £49. We were able to use Tesco Clubcard vouchers for £40 of it, so only paid £9! Bargain.

I love Argos, but think we just preferred to get the rings from a proper jewellers. Wouldn't be opposed to buying things from there though if they had something I liked and it was better value than everywhere else!

I also agree with the Goldsmith's comment, I was even luckier... I had £150 worth of tesco clubcard vouchers, I cashed them in for Goldsmith vouchers at the time when they were worth 4x !!! result we got £600 worth of vouchers!!! Our rings cost £758 for both, so we only had £158.00 to pay!!!!

Its worth keeping an eye out for offers like this as they can save you a fortune!! I think the offer at the moment is 3x value for Goldsmiths!!

Nothing wrong with it. I felt like this, but the rings there are really lightweight, and I wasn't convinced they would survive over the years. Also bear in mind what your e ring is made from - say it's 18ct, then a 9ct wedding ring could damage it. I never wanted to spend a lot, but in fairness, it is one of the few physical things left after the wedding day, and in our ridiculously long hunt to find rings we were happy with, we ended up spending £1750!!

We got our wedding rings from Argos - hubby actually bought a silver one as he's not a big jewellery person and didn't want to spend much. We've only been married 7 months but they're still going strong.

Our rings were from Argos, 7 years later still look as good as they did on the day!

Have you considered looking in a second hand jewellers? I don't know about wedding bands but I know that they do some gorgeous vintage engagement rings. I love my engagement ring as it is simple and will never date but I would love an unusual ring as anniversary gift one day (I drop hints regularly )

Its the meaning behind it that matters. I'm a big Argos fan, never looked at the jewellery but now I will. No one knows where it comes from but you xxx

We went to Argos to look first. I am not fussy about what a ring is made of, I just wanted one which he felt would suit me. I liked a couple in Argos but sadly I have sausage fingers so my ring size is U.. Not a size which argos holds much stock of.

I ended up with a white gold diamond ring from warren james which I LOVE and I get quite a few comments on how it looks as its not at all modern

For wedding rings.. I am looking at titanium ones online for H2b and tbh because I do not understand why I need 2 rings I am seriously considering just using my e-ring as the wedding ring too

My first engagement ring was from Argos and lasted 20 years so I wouldnt worry about your wedding ring lasting forever

We originally bought ours from Argos but we didn't like them and returned them.

There's nothing wrong with a good bargain though! I ended up buying mine online from greatvaluegold.com and they're great - incredibly cheap as well and the service was fab.
