Hi all,

I just wanted to see if anyone else was getting married here either this year or in the future? (I'm next August)

Feeling rather alone in my planning!

Hi,
We have just started looking for our venue and trying to get costs for venues. I hope you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying? We stayed at Ruthin castle yesterday and I have fallen in love with it! Don't think our budget can cover it though!!

When are you getting married?

Hey

Oh cool, we were staying there just the night before you lol!
It's amazing, but the price is a bit steep for the food...
Due to us booking the wedding there, we got a special deal to stay the night for £99 - deluxe room, including bufet breakfast and the 3 course evening meal. Really good value, and gave us a proper feel of the place - now I know I've definitely made the right choie

We have a budget of about £5-6k for the venue, but we're not having wine on the table (most of my family don't drink), and we're hoping to serve my cake for pudding. We're having starter and main, arrival drinks/canapes, and a cold evening buffet.
The rooms are really fab though (and not a bad price - but we're not going for the actual "honeymoon" suite- we're going for a cheaper one, cos I prefer the style!)

I've always been fascinated by castles for their architecture and history, so whatever our budget was, I would have worked out how to have a castle somehow

We're getting married in almost exactly a year's time. (bank hol sunday)

Russell (wedding co-ordinator) is really helpful too!

If you want to know anything more detailed regarding pricing etc, feel free to PM me

Hey I got married at Ruthin Castle last year, cost anout 6k for 80 day guests and about 130 evening. Russell doesn't seem to negotiate though! Had fab day, but a few tips - our day music (for drinks reception and wedding breakfast )went missing on the day; they didn't annouce the buffet so me and half the guests didn't know it had been served til it was cold (bacon butties/cheese toasties), and they shut the bar about 1am when guests were still asking for drinks.

Don't get me wrong, it didn't ruin the day and I wouldn't ever have changed the venue, but keep them on their toes!

Enjoy the planning ladies. xx

We're going to stay at Ruthin castle next week and have a proper showaround on the Sunday. I think we can afford it based on the costs Russell has given us. Does anyone have any pictures of the ceremony rooms?

Thanks

The cornwallis room is my ceremony room, for 70 people plus musicians and registrar. (So I assume you would be cornwallis too?)

(This was the set up for a wedding when I was visiting - it seats 45)

And this is the same room with 86 seats...

Hi ladies,

I'm getting married at Ruthin Castle next April - I'm ridiculously excited! We visit every few weeks for lunch because we've both fallen totally in love with the place.

One of my best friends got married there in 2008 and it was the most beautiful wedding.

We've set a budget of about £7,000 for the venue. We're having 100 people for the whole day, but we're having a church ceremony.

Has anyone chosen their colour schemes yet? I'm waiting to see what my bridesmaids look best in but I've got my heart set on champagne and pink colours to go with the colours in the grand salon.

I know a few people who have had problems dealing with Russell - has anyone else had any problems with him?

ooh congrats Jen!

I've had no problems with Russell so far, but we'll have to see when it comes to picking menu things, as that's when we'll be kind of testing him for tolerance! (Very awkward families when it comes to food!)

My colour scheme is cobalt blue/sapphire, with silver and gold accents. (Starry night but in summer kinda thing lol)

Going to the wedding fayre at the end of this month - can't wait

We're getting married there in October. I can't wait!!!

I'm coming to the wedding fayre too. I wasn't going to but I've managed to rearrange things!! I would go there more often if I lived nearby!!

Has anyone got any pics of the Peacock room set up for the ceremony? I went to the wedding fayre yesterday and now I'm wondering whether the Peacock room would be better? I'm so confused!!!!

Im getting married at Ruthin Castle too, in May! So excited!
Not sure what to do for evening meal yet; buffet, hot meal or beef/chip/pork baps etc. Anyone been to a wedding there before? Thanks
16/02/2012 at 15:44
I haven't got any pics of the peacock room I would have loved to have the ceremony in there, but I think it's too small for us...

Welcome to the thread _HellsBells_, and congrats!

re: food, it depends what you're doing for the rest of your day really? (Timings of ceremony, wedding breakfast/lunch?)

We're having a cold evening buffet because we're having a 3 course meal earlier in the day. our lot wouldn't be that fond of two hot meals in one day, and there's also the good thing of there being more choice in the cold buffet, so covering everyone's tastes.

Not been to an actual wedding there as a guest myself, but I've asked millions of questions to the staff, and there used to be a married on this forum who'd got married a couple of years ago there. (She's no longer a member of the forum I don't think)

Hope the food bit helps anyway

One of my best friends got married at Ruthin Castle in 2009 - her wedding was by far the best I've ever been to. I guess it would have to be for us to have chosen to have our reception there too!

The whole day was beautiful and really well organised. The peacocks were out on show just as she was having her photographs taken too!

Did anyone else see that the castle was featured on KGB deals last week??? Two nights for just £89 including breakfast. I didn't buy one as we go to the castle all the time, but I was a bit surprised to see that people could use the deal until December and it includes weekends throughout the summer. I hope that it doesn't get too full when anyone is having their wedding there!

Does anyone know what the rates will be for guests if they stay for our weddings? I'd got it into my head that it was going to be a special rate of £100 but I'm not sure now.

Jen - The guests' rate is £95. The "rack rate" is £125 for a standard room.

The deluxe rooms are £155, but usually £170.

When we booked, we also got a special deal of staying there for £99, and it got credited off our wedding balance (Other guests also had the £99 opportunity, without the credit bit)
Got to try it out properly then

Hope my prices help anyway! x
