Stoke Park - First Impressions

Stoke Park is wow with a capital wow - no wonder film producers from Goldfinger to Layer Cake use it as a backdrop. Although the creamy domed mansion is classic 18th century, the buggies outside the golf shop and Mercs in the car park bring it bang up to date. We don't play golf – the lifeblood at Stoke – so what to do first. Explore the gorgeous grounds? Order a drink on the terrace? Chill in the steam room...this relaxation lark is high-pressure stuff.
