Venue review: Castello Tuscany

Y&YW discovers this lavish Tuscan villa, uncovering panoramic places for photo opportunities, opulent interiors and fantastic local wineries…

Castello Tuscany, Italy

Used to scouting out fantastic locations for bridal photo shoots, and while on location in Italy, You & Your Wedding’s Peta Hunt found herself falling in love with the romantic setting of Castello Tuscany – which, as luck would have it, is also a wedding venue…

Home to the Gherardesca Family since the 7th century, Castello Tuscany is a real jewel of a find. If you’re looking to get wed in Italy, it’s hard to beat it for authentic Tuscan ambiance both inside its grand and historic interiors and outside with its panoramic views, providing ample opportunity for posing as a new couple!

How many guests can attend a wedding?
It can accommodate 200 guests. There are four large and different interconnected spaces available in the house.

Do they hold a wedding license?
Yes

Is there a bridal suite?
Yes, there are several. If you want a four poster, it’s there, all the rooms are huge and beautifully furnished.

How many guests can stay overnight?
12-14 in the main house, 16 in the attached buildings and 26 in two other outhouses.

Where are the best places to take photos?
Every corner you turn is another photo opportunity, they have their own church and you can shoot inside the castle. The grounds are huge too, with sublime snapping prospects from the terrace, gardens and beyond. For beach lovers, there’s also a private shoreline so you can style your own barefoot snaps with the sand between your toes.

Extras we love…
The area is well-known for its production of incredible local wines. Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Guado al Tasso and Ca'Marcanda are just a few of the renowned and prestigious cellars around Bolgheri. It’s possible to organise visits and wine tastings too – yum! The area is also famous for its olive oil and local restaurants: Michelin-starred Restaurant La Pineta in Marina di Bibbona serves divine seafood specialties.

Pre-wedding pamping
There's a spa 10 minutes from the castle with pools and facilities for a variety of sports or just a pre-party indulgence.

How much does it cost?
Prices start from €7000 in low season for the basic hire of the palace, depending on numbers and specific requests for spaces and times.
