Ever since Pippa Middleton’s engagement to James Matthews hit the news, we’ve been speculating over what kind of wedding dress she will wear. After all, she did wear what was possibly the most talked about bridesmaid dress of all time.
All kinds of questions have been whirring around our heads; will she go for a British designer, like her sister Kate Middleton did in her McQueen number? Will she show off her famous curves in a figure hugging number? Or will she go down a traditional and demure route, suited to her church wedding ceremony?
Since wedding industry fashion oracle Peta Hunt is our editor-at-large, we hit her up for her predictions on what Pippa will be wearing on the biggest day of her life.
Suzanne Neville seems a perfect choice for Pippa on her wedding day; “Suzanne Neville is the darling of the red carpet, and creates gorgeous, figure flattering dresses that would look wonderful on Pippa,” Peta says.
The Angelico dress is Peta’s pick from the collection.
The gorgeous long sleeved wedding dress is just the right side of revealing, with the illusion back and beautiful button detailing. The full skirt is princessy, without being over the top, and we can just imagine Pippa’s hair styled in soft waves to complement the gown.
If Pippa really wants to push the boat out on the big day, she could go with a couture creation from Ralph & Russo, similar to the gorgeous number above, perfect for making a bridal statement.
“As a couture fashion house, Ralph & Russo could make something magical for Pippa, tailored specifically to her,” says Peta. “It would really be blowing the budget to go for something from them.”
“If Pippa plans to keep it more real, a Phillipa Lepley dress is very popular with the Chelsea set,” Peta points out. “This dramatic neckline is a modern take on a ‘50s vibe and is effortlessly chic.”
Bold necklines like this work well with statement earrings and tousled hairstyles.
With the recent news that Pippa has asked all of her guests to wear a second, different outfit to her reception, surely she too will be slipping into a different dress for the evening portion of her wedding day?
Kate changed into a second McQueen dress, complete with a delightful fluffy bolero, and we suspect Pippa might slip into something more comfortable to get the party started.
“Berta dresses are perfect for the modern bride, so Pippa may well splash out on one as her evening attire,” Peta speculates.
This slinky number hugs the body in all the right places, and the crystal embellished train adds a glam element for a party feel.
Whatever Pippa opts to wear, we’re certain she’ll look breathtaking - we’re counting down the days on our calendar until her dress is revealed to the world.
