(Day 19) Weight-loss without dieting - The Paul McKenna Way!

Funnily enough, today's entry in the journal that helps you with this plan is about becoming demoralised. So that made me feel better - that it was expected by this point so the entry was put there to help.

Have now moved desks at work and am upstairs at the far end of the office, this means if i need the loo or a cuppa, i now have stairs to tackle. All good - apart from getting a longer walk and an eye break from my PC, i get a bit of exercise on the stairs.

We had our work weigh-in today and i've not shifted again. But neither had the other bride on a different diet so we dont feel too bad since its both of us.

It may just be that this sort of plan works for people who overeat all the time or comfort eat all the time - i have my moments but was usually pretty good at eating fairly sensibly so i guess this may take longer to kick in. Tis also about raising my metabolic rate, which is very low due to a thyroid problem, so i guess i'm in for the long haul. Once this cold is shifted (yup, still here) then the 'running' attempts will start again, and the exercise will help the old metabolism.

At lunch, the other bride in my office and I went looking for cravats - turns out i've want completely the wrong green for most hire companies but we did find a place that will make them. So its now a quest to hunt down some decent material to get them made, and i have a lead on that, thanks to these wonderful chat rooms!

Slightly better day today but am not convinced i'm following this method properly. Managed to eat when hungry and eat slowly but that was about it.

(Day 17) Weight-loss without dieting - The Paul McKenna Way!

Ok, messed up today big time! It all started so well - i wasn't hungry when i woke up, so i went to work and by just after ten i was hungry.

Then 'disaster' stuck. Meetings. All day. Buttie van arrived at 10.25 so i had a couple of mins to buy breakfast, stuff it down me and then go into the meeting. All golden rules out of the window.

By lunch time, i wasnt hungry due to the late breakfast but had to eat then cos of the 3-hour meeting starting again in the afternoon. Had my banana at 5pm and a small main meal, then toast before i went to bed cos i'd got hungry again.

Tis all very well eating when you are hungry, but i'm finding other people and their plans a total menace! Guess for this to work, you need to go and live in isolation for your 90 days.

Tomorrow is another day....

Since beginning of December, I've dropped a dress size. Not tried to, just have... wedding excitement maybe.
Tip 1 - Always eat a breakfast, it starts your metabolism to burn the fat.
Tip 2 - When you feel hungry brush your teeth, confuses the taste buds etc.
Tip 3 - If you can don't eat after 6-7pm, yor body cannot digest the food properly after this time and will just store it as fat etc. The weight will drop off (Tip from a hungarian goalkeeper!)

Sunday and i wakeup feeling crap. My h2b went down with a cold yesterday and i've woken with it. Headachy and achey limbs. The achey limbs maybe due to helping move mum and dad's stuff from storage yesterday, but the head feels that horrid fluey hot. Humph. Don't seem to have got rid of this cold from Christmas, or else this is about the 5th i've had in quick succession!

Managed to eat when hungry, eat til i was full and drink more water. Felt sorry for myself this evening so ate some biccys when i wasnt truly hungry. Oh well. Put it down to feeling yucky and move on.

(Day 15) Weight-loss without dieting - The Paul McKenna W

Today was check-in day - the day you are 'officially' allowed to weigh yourself - although i have been taking sneeky peeks in the week due to checking in with my friends at work as well.

So my official weigh-in was 11 stone, 1 1/4 pounds. Grand total loss so far is 1 whole pound! So no great weight-loss there then.

Not very encouraging - but i actually do feel a whole lot better in myself than i have when i have lost weight by other methods.
Number 1 - i'm not hungry!
Number 2 - i am actually tending towards food that is better for me - absolutely no temptation the other day when i went into a cake shop to buy a buttie!
Number 3 - it has helped (but not cured) my IBS!

So i feel its worth continuing.

Day went well today - helped my mum and dad move a whole load of stuff out of storage and back to their house so i did the 'move you body' thing. Also ate when i was hungry and drank a tonne of water.

Still need to work on these 4 rules though. The only one that is sticking so far is eat more slowly - easier cos i can see the improvement from the IBS.

Anyone else doing this plan? How much did you lose by the first check-in? Is there any advice you can give?

1 pound is better than nothing - look at it that way, its a pound in the right direction! you have done that by just taking notice of what your eating and if you have not changed WHAT your eating much then I think thats great. better than starving yourself and changing completely what you eat to have a 2pound loss, which I have done many times...stick with it!

(18/01/08)
Today i did fairly well, managed to eat when i was hungry, eat what i wanted, stop when i was full and even listened to the cd again!

The cd experience was different again - my back was hurting so i couldn't get comfy for a while so i don't know if it would have worked or not. This time i think i heard most of it, and then 'woke' and heard a very loud 'ONE' which is the last thing he says when he is bringing you out at the end of the cd - so i guess i did 'go under'.

One thing i have noticed after using the cd is that you feel more positive the next day and hunger pains are easier to identify. It seems to wear off after a day or so, so i guess i need to listen to it as often as possible.

Today was also review day and my priorities for next week are:
- Exercise (not been able to cos of stinking cold)
- Eat when hungry
- Sleep when i need to, rather than staying awake just because its too early. I figured sleep must be the same as eating on demand.

(Day 13) Weight-loss without dieting - The Paul McKenna Way!

Resolved that this was the day i would eat when i was truly hungry cos i think i'd started 'pre-empting' my hunger and eating when i was neutral-slightly hungry rather than slightly hungry - fairly hungry.

So i skipped breakfast and took my bread and marmite into work for a half-11 brunch - got told off by the cleaner cos she thought i was only having toast for lunch - she laughed when she heard that it was breakfast! But I think i was truly hungry then so that was good.

It was weigh-in day at work with my support girls - one had lost 2 pounds, one had gained 2 pounds and i honestly don't know - my scales gave me 3 different readings so i gave up! Don't think i've lost a huge amount for the first 2 weeks of this plan, but i feel better and my IBS is sooo much better - so thats half the battle. The plan's official weigh-in is in two days.

I had to eat lunch slightly earlier than i would have chosen to cos there was a prospect of a very long meeting at 2 - i couldn't have my stomach rumbling all the way through so i ate as late as possible. Meeting got moved :-(

My work provides a mountain of fruit so i've taken to putting at least two pieces on my desk every morning and using that for my inevitable 5pm hunger - i finish at 6 and have a half-hour drive home and the fruit really helps. So today i had a banana pit-stop and drank water and then it was on to meeting h2b at Cheshire Oaks outlet.

After walking round the outlet 3 times, and trying my h2b's patience just a little, we eventually bought suitcases for our honeymoon - and it was off to Pizza express for a 'quick' pizza. they were incredibly slow that evening, but it meant i was very good and could eat slowly. I'm still not very good at savouring each mouthful when there is someone else there, but I do still seem to be able to slow down, so at least one thing has stuck.

I also managed to listen to the cd - fell asleep during the first bit containing his waffle and think i fell asleep in the hypnostism bit - i decided to count down from 500 this time as i was in negative 200's last time - but i dont remember reaching 400. Also i dont remember him 'waking' me up either, just the sound of the cd spinning as it switched off. So don't know if it worked or not. In my sleepy state though, i found it a little easier to visualise me being thinner and then i dont remember anything after that! I've seen on other websites that people do fall asleep during the cds so i dont feel to bad, but i dont know if that means you're so switched off you dont hear any of the hypnosis? So i've experience two extremes so far and i dont know if either or both are ok? I guess i'm expecting somewhere in the middle where i visualise all the stuff as he goes along. But i did find, in my slightly sleepy state that when he goes through and tells you that your arms and legs are relaxed etc, they did relax!
