So...after leaving the church as Man and Wife, it was time for the photographer to take some pictures.
Amazingly, after days of grey skies, rain and even fog, the moment we stepped onto the grass to start having our photos done, the sun came blazing down on us!! Incredible really and so so lucky :) It was even a bit warm....
Anyway, the pictures took around 40 minutes, which, for a group of 70 people and 18 different group pictures, was quite good I thought. I would recommend having a list of all the group photos that you want, and (if you are asking your ushers to organise the groups as we did) even write down the names of the people in each group to help speed things along.
After all the groups were done, we told everyone that we were going to have the Bride and Groom shots done and that they could all do as they pleased for a short while until these were done. My husband gave them a time of 16:30 to be at the reception venue so that they would all be there when we arrived.
After the Bride and Groom shots were done, and also a few Bride shots, we made our way to the reception venue in my uncle's car. We'd been a lot quicker than expected with the photos, so without realising it, we got to the reception and were announced before my husband's family had got there from the pub!!!
It provided a bit of amusement to everyone, but at least the few minutes spent waiting for the family to arrive, gave us a chance to go round and say hello to a few people. I think this worked out better in the end, as once the food, speeches and dancing had started, it was more difficult to get round and see everyone. This was also good, as we didn't have a receiving line either.
Eventually, the Groom's family arrived and the buffet was started. Rob's friends from school provided a bit of entertainment as the Master of Ceremonies x2 - they are very tall twins who are both in the Royal Navy and they have extremely loud voices - and they organised the buffet by sending guets table by table to get food.
After the food, were the speeches! All three people giving speeches were extremely nervous - FoB, Groom and Best Man - but they all did soooo well. They got laughs in all the right places and I think they all enjoyed doing it once they got into the swing of it!
Then there was the cutting of the cake and the first dance. A friend of mine had agreed to sing our first dance song for us, just to add a bit of individuality to the evening and she did a very good job. We danced to 'When you say nothing at all' by Ronan Keating, as this was the first dance we ever had together four and a half years ago.
Then, finally, it was PARTY TIME!!!! It took a few dances to get the dance floor filling up but it got there and after that there was hardly a time when it was empty!! The dj played every request put to him and it ended by being one of the best discos I've ever been to with an excellent mix of music from the 70's to now!! Lots of cheese...hurrah!!
The end of the night came all too soon for my liking - and despite being incredibly tired, I was sober as a judge!! I guess this is good as it meant I remeber everything that happened all day and I can treasure these memories forever.
Still on a high now, even though I am back at work for a couple of days :(
Fly out to Egypt on Friday afternoon, so looking forward to that!! :)
I will post the link to my website once all the pictures have been put on there - probably in two and a half weeks when we get back home again.
Sorry it's taken me ages to get back to you - been in Egypt for 2 weeks!! I did have my necklace made, by JewellerybyJo, but she is absolutely amazing and made it in less than the six weeks it said on the website. Give her a call and see if she can help you. www.jewellerybyjo.co.uk - She's ace!!!
Hi LadyE,
PLEASE help me!!! Firstly your wedding day sounds so lovely - you sound like you were really relaxed and enjoying the day which is what I hope for mine. Now for the help- your necklace is gorg and exactly what I have been searching for for the last six months. Where did it come from? Please don't say you had it made as I only have 45days to go and probably no time to do this!!!
Thank you so much for your help. Jacks xx

I can't believe that after 18 months of planning, preparing and panicking that my wedding has happened and we are now husband and wife!! How scary is that?!
The day started off very early (for me anyway) at 07:30 - I woke up before everyone else in the house, sat in bed and read a magazine for a while until my Mum came in with a cuppa. I felt surprisingly calm after the manic preparations of the previous few days, so I ate some toast and had a shower - very cool and calm.
My hair and make up appointments started at 09:45, so we all (Mob, Chief BM and Grandmother) all traipsed into the village, but not before stopping at the reception hall to check that everyone there knew what they were doing.
One and a half hours later, I emerged looking decidedly over dressed for saturday morning in a small Yorkshire village, one passer-by even commenting that maybe a tiara was a bit over the top for a trip to the shops!!!
All my entourage having abandoned me, I got a taxi back to the house only to find that there was no-one there, as they were all decorating the reception venue!
I was getting more and more nervous as the minutes passed whilst on my own - nothing to keep myself busy with and I couldn't even go and help at the reception venue as my car had been taken by my fiance!!
Eventually they all came home, and very quickly the house was in chaos again!
Everything started to move very quickly after that: the flowers were delivered, the photographer arrived, and very soon it was time for me to get dressed!
My Mum helped me to get dressed, and after a slight hitch with the button-in panel at the back and a lot of improvisation with sticky velcro (don't ask!!) I was finally in the dress. Veil, jewellery and shoes closely followed and eventually my photographer was able to take a lot of photos on his camera before shooting off to get the Groom waiting at the church.
A few gulps of champagne later, my uncle came back to pick me and my Dad up from the house and take us to the church - the long way round (on instruction from the MoB as to Bride etiquette) - I arrived at the church 15 minutes late with the vicar and bridesmaids waiting outside for me!
Walking up the path to the church, I began to feel a little panicky again, and this hit me again when I turned into the church doorway to see all my friends looking out at me!! Quite a scary moment, but I got through it and managed to walk up the aisle towards my Groom. By the time I reached the top and stood next to Rob, I was cool as a cucumber, and even asked him quietly how he was feeling!!
The church service was beautiful and after 45 minutes, we were walking back out of the church as Man and Wife!!! Amazing.
Congrats LadyE. It all sounds wonderful. Have you got any pics yet? 165 days to go for me...it can't come quick enough!
All the best for a long and happy marriage x

Only 2 days to go now and the nerves have finally started to set in!
Picked up my dress this morning and it is beautiful!!!! very pretty and sparkly and I can't wait to put it on on Saturday.
I've also just had a spray tan to make myself a little less pasty than normal and am sitting on my living room in my underwear to try and prevent any rubbing! Very nice image for you all....
Tonight is our wedding rehearsal and then I am staying at my Mum's house until the wedding day, as I have some early nail and makeup appointments to get to.
I can't believe my last night with my h2b as a single woman has already been and gone and the next time we sleep together we will be married!!! It only seems like a few weeks ago since we got engaged and it's actually 18 months!! Scary.
Well, as I will be extremey busy over the next 2 days, I thought I'd just drop you a quick blog to say hello, and I'll be in touch after the wedding to let you all know how it went.
