Ring a ding ding

So, what's today's worries ladies?

As predicted in my previous post, the engagement ring is proving very tricky. I had my heart set on a vintage art deco ring but as I only wear silver/white gold it has been pretty impossible to find any art deco rings that aren't yellow gold that are in our price range. So, we decided to go bespoke and went along to a local place that are stacked full of really unusual and great work.

I spent over an hour discussing the kind of look I wanted and brought along loads of photos and even a couple of sketches (you may have guessed by my name I'm the arty type) but when she mailed over the initial designs last night I just felt deflated. I hated all of them :(

I have tried to be all nice and polite (she's also over a week late getting them to us - I want a ring dammit!) but it's me that's going to have to wear it for the rest of my life.

Thank gawd I go on holiday on Sunday!

Eternal worrier/pessimist tries to be carefree bride-to-be

Thank Crunchie for this site. A place (albeit a virtual one) where I can panic, rant, moan and vent away from teh raised eyebrows or freinds and family and the wrinkled brow of confusion on H2B (they rarely understand do they girls?).

Let's set the scene. I'm a worrier. I'm a pessimist. I hate decisions. I hate spending a lot of money. Going to be a challenging 10 monsth then isn't it?!

Here's my current woes:

The Engagement Ring: We have decided to get it designed and made by a local jeweller. It means that I currently have no ring (might not be ready till mid July) and so I have nothing to show when constantly asked 'well, let's see the ring'. I'm also REALLy worried I won't like the final thing as it's not like I can change my mind and not like I can see it on until it's paid for. Eeks.

The dress: Going for a vintage/art deco theme to my outfit/the wedding (think finger waves, atonement etc) so didn't want a traditional big white gown. Was tempted by Sapphire by Monsoon but then saw Romy by Monsoon on Ebay for £50 (BNWT) yesterady and snapped it up but now having a wobble as not quite what I wanted and am now thinking I only have one day to live the princess dream.

Family: Where to begin? I love my parents (of course I do) but they are in the huff because we want to pay for the wedding ourselves. The in-laws are similarly miffed because my future father-in-law is a deacon and I am an atheist. He wanted to conduct our ceremony but obviously I would not be comfortable with that so am looking into a humanist ceremony. Add to that the barrage of questions and opinions we get whenever we see any of them and it's little wonder I wanted to keep the date a secret - also because we've not decided on 'intimate' (affordable but might feel weird in our grand venue) or 'whole hog' (far too much money).

So, that's my current woes. What about yours?
