Travel ed's adventures

Aloha!

I’ve landed back down in the office with a bump after being away in Hawaii for a week. My fantastic whistle-stop tour included the island of Oahu where I got to put my toes in the golden sand at Waikiki Beach, swim with wild dolphins and turtles and hang out at Jack Johnson’s Kokua Festival (http://www.kokuafestival.com). It’s carbon-neutral, takes place every year towards the end of April at Honolulu’s Waikiki Shell stadium and all the money made goes to the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, which aims to keep the islands green and clean.

Even the start of our Hawaii trip was exciting! We got upgraded by Virgin (http://www.virginatlantic.com) and who should we bump in to in First Class but Jordan and Peter Andre! They were on their way to Los Angeles (which is where you stop off before flying on to Hawaii) and one of our spies told us that she was going to have her hair extensions done and boobs reduced! You heard it here first brides-to-be!

If you’re planning a Hawaiian honeymoon, and I thoroughly recommend one, then you can read more about my exploits in a forthcoming edition of You & Your Wedding or in the meantime, log on to http://www.gohawaii.com.

I’ve also been wowed by some excellent hotels in Barcelona recently. Hotel AC Miramar (http://www.hotelacmiramar.com) is a new hotel built on the hillside of Montjuic, so offers great views of the city and coastline. The 75 rooms are very contemporary, book a junior suite and you’ll get a hot tub on your massive balcony! I also visited what has now become my favourite hotel in Spain, Gran Hotel La Florida (http://hotellaflorida.com). This also lies on a hillside overlooking the city, there’s a wonderful pool to laze around and outside bar to sip cocktails at. Plus there’s a great spa, pretty gardens and the staff are some of the most helpful and friendly I’ve come across for a long time. It’s so elegant, so stylish and oh-so-slick that I was tempted not to leave. Sadly it’s too expensive to make my new home, but I’ll definitely be back for a long weekend break soon! Read more about Barcelona and its hot hotels in the November/December 08 edition of You & Your Wedding.

Finally, I had a delicious press lunch at Morton’s Restaurant this week with the people from the super swish Capri Palace Hotel (http://www.capripalace.com). Not only is this one of the best honeymoon hotels in Italy it’s also a top celeb haunt too. If you wondered how Gwyneth Paltrow has gone from Hippy to hot in a matter of weeks and started wearing mini skirts on the red carpet, it’s because she checked herself in to the Leg School Programme at the hotel’s famous Beauty Farm Spa!

More travel gossip coming soon!
