VOTE HERE for late night and Sunday opening hours

...we need you to join our campaign!

Hello everyone!

We’ve had so many emails lately from brides-to-be saying they’re frustrated that they have to wait weeks for a Saturday appointment at a wedding dress retailer, or that they wish the shops opened late one night in the week, that we’ve launched a campaign to encourage retailers to think about making their opening hours bride friendly.

(The poll we've just run on the site has had 1000 votes so far - 910 of you are in favour!)

As so many of you – not to mention your mums and chief bridesmaids – are working hard during the days as well as planning your wedding, any opportunity to have dress searching trips, or even fittings appointments after work or even on a Sunday, can only help make things easier for you.

And with everything else you’re juggling, plus all the holiday days you’ll use up for your honeymoon and the big event itself, at You & Your Wedding we feel more bridal retailers need to think about changing the shape of their opening hours.

By that, we mean, maybe opening 11-7 instead of 9-5. Or closing a day during the week in order to open on Sundays. Or closing a half day in the week and offering you and your bridal party the chance to shop on a late night instead.

To kick-start or campaign I’ve written an article which has been published in the Bridal Retail magazine Bridal Buyer – which is read by the UK’s bridal shop owners.

But You & Your Wedding can’t run a campaign like this without you! We need you to sign up here by posting a comment on this blog, telling us why you’d like more bride-friendly opening hours, so we can show this petition to bridal retailers and encourage them to listen to you.

We’re also asking retailers who already offer these options or who are introducing them, to sign up to our list of bride-friendly retailers – to see who they are keep an eye on our homepage because we'll bring you updates.

At You & Your Wedding we believe in helping modern brides plan their dream day with the least stress possible – and that’s why we’ve listened to your comments and launched this campaign on your behalf. Please join us by adding your comments below – we’ll keep you updated with how the bridal retailers respond.

Bride friendly opening hours simply makes sense? The more 'bride friendly' the shop is the more likely u r to buy from that shop??

As a busy mum of twins on my own with them monday to friday, and a weekend job to keep myself busy. Late night opening would be amazing! Otherwise I'l be doing everything online! In this day and age retailers should be figting for customers instead of making online the only option for some, x

I am having real problems getting to my alterations appointments. They are only open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm!!! As a result i am having to have my final fitting 2 months before the wedding and then a final try on two days before (incase it no longer fits!). I think that the fact i've spent over 1K on this dress, they would be far more accommodating! Bring on more bride friendly opening hours!!!

With wedding planning being hectic enough in the latter stages, it would so help if later evening or Sunday hours would be available.

I'm having problems finding wedding shoes... it's quite frustrating that I've not enough weekends available to go looking at the various shops and try on both left and right shoes rather than just one!! How can you make a decision on a shoe if you can't try both on!! Some retailers want you to pay for the shoes before even trying on; and then have the cheek to say that you're then committed to buying them!!!

Fully support this idea; shame it's not already available.
