Subject : Any Devon Brides here?

Just wondered if there are any other Devon brides on here? When are you getting married & where is your venue?

Chris & I are getting married on 26th April 2008 at Yeoldon House Hotel (Nr Bideford in North Devon).

Wow - Burgh Island looks absolutely amazing! Are you continuing the art deco theme with your wedding? Ouch at the prices though!

Kitley looks beautiful too - the rooms and grounds are stunning.

Glad I'm not the only Devon bride on here!

I know i'm biased but it is amazing!! Yes we are keeping the theme of art deco through the whole wedding - so have drop waisted dresses for the bridemaids and my dress has a vintage theme, and we're having black tie attire for the rest of the guests!! We have a jazz band, which I'm very excited about. We've booked it for the weekend (wanted to prolong the wedding day for as long as possible-i'm so sad!!) It worked out cheaper then other venues we looked and they were only for one day. We're only having around 60 guests which is a small number but we felt we wanted to spend more on a more intimate venue (so sorry for boring you all!!!)

How are all your plans going?

Beau

you're not boring me at all! I love the look of your venue and to have an art deco theme to your wedding will be fantastic! Are you having ostrich feather headdresses as well? I'm getting excited about your wedding now!! I look forward to seeing the pics! What colours are you having?

Our plans are going well - we're only having about 40 guests for the day, and more for the evening. We're having the whole place to ourselves as well - there are only 10 bedrooms, so the venue has a really intimate feel to it. I've just had to completely change my colour scheme, becuase I'm having a different dress to the one I originally thought I was going to have.

We're hoping to have feather headdresses for the bridesmaids - that reminds me to look into that (thank you)!! You are so sweet, that you for being so nice!! We are having pink/silver/black theme!!

That's cool you're having an exclusive venue too!! It looks lovely, the grounds look amazing and the pictures of the food, looks delicious!! What colour scheme are you having now - and what's your dress like? are you having bridesmaids?

So exciting!!

That's going to look beautiful - what colour are the bridesmaids dresses?

I was going to have mostly silver, with a few blue accents (and lots of white). I'm now having coffee instead of silver, as my dress has a vintage-type lace overlayer. For now, I think I'm still keeping the little bits of blue (in the flowers and on the invites etc., but they're just little bits of contrast really.

What's your dress like?

Ahh thank you!! The bridesmaids dresses are pink with handmade sequins/detail (sounds tacky, but it's not!!)

Ooh coffee colour scheme will be fab and the blue will be such a nice contrast!! Your dress sounds lovely, i've got a lace halter neck dress which gathers under the chest with a vintage brooch.

Are you having any bridesmaids? Have you thought about your invitations yet? I'm still finalising who is coming - it's a bit difficult as, as you know we're restricted on numbers and some people are assuming they are coming even though we never said anything!!

Stoodleigh Court is amazing - I looked at it when I was researching venues. It really is beautiful.

I don't really know Axminster.

Beau - I'm hopefully having one bridesmaid - asking her tomorrow night. Initially I wasn't going to have any, but I've given it some thought & decided to have my best friend, if she'll oblige!
I'm making all my own invitations, which I'm really enjoying doing. It's working out loads cheaper and it means I can have something completely unique. we think we're having about 40 for the daytime, and then maybe about 100 in the evening, although we may have to rethink evening numbers a bit, as costs have been spiralling lately.

How far have you got with your planning - have you got a link to your dress - it sounds lovely and I'd love to see it. This is mine (although I don't think the picture really does it justice). http://www.gwisgfabrides.co.uk/item-details.asp?ItemCat=Justin+Alexander&ItemId=64

Hi blueladybird!!
Hope eveything goes well when you ask your friend, I bet she will be so excited!! Good on you for making your invitations, that's a real personal touch. I made our save the date cards that we sent out with our magnets, but I don't think i'll have time to make the invitations as I've got a final exam in December so need to concentrate on that - It's going to be a struggle - i'm addicted to the wedding plans!!

I've done most things for the wedding now, finding that a lot of things can't be done unti closer to the day, next year!! I've managed to save some photos of my dress and also the bridesmaid dresses - hope it works i'm a bit uselss at these things!!

I love your dress so much!!!! It's so funny as I was really interested in getting that dress and I had it in my scrapbook of ideas!!! You will look stunning!!!

Maylee I really like your venue, the building is amazing I love historical buildings! the food looks scrummy too!! when are you getting married?

Beau, I can't access your pictures Frown. It says about not being logged on. I'd love to see, though - have you got any web links?

I made our save the date cards in my original blue & silver colour scheme, so it'll keep people on their toes when they get the invites in a completely different colour scheme!

I know what you mean about wedding plans distracting you from exams - I've got an exam on 2nd October and another on 8th April (2 1/2 weeks before our wedding), and it's so hard to make myself sit & study!!

I can see your pics now - yeay!

Your bridesmaids dresses are really unique - where did you manage to find them? They're lovely.

I'm just studying for work (tax, I'm afraid). What about you?

We got the bridesmaid dresses randomly from Kaleidescope! I didn't think they would do such beautiful dresses but they are exactly what I wanted - my bridesmaids love them especially as they are so 1920/30's!!!

That's so wierd you're studying for tax - as my final exam is to become ACCA qualified!! Do you work in practice then?
