Subject : wedding in florida

Hi Girls, is there anyone out there who is getting married in Florida. I have booked mine and i'm a little unsure on what colors to choose as i dont want a color that is to light so it doesnt show in my photos but then i dont want the dresses to be to dark they make the bridesmaids look really pale and drawn. Anyone have any ideas

Hi Zoe,
I am getting married on the beach in Florida (Cocoa) next October, I have ordered my dress - I didn't think it would happen so quickly but fell in love with one I saw in the last issue of 'you and your wedding'. Its a cream satin halterneck with a capuccino sash and puddle train. We are having a late afternoon wedding so i should still stand out against the beach!!! I am only having one lttle bridesmaid and my son as pageboy so its easy for me as my son will wear similar to his dad and my bridesmaid will probably wear more of a beachy / party summer dress rather than a formal bridesmaid dress... as they are both only three and growing constantly that will probably be the last things we buy!
Whereabouts are you getting married?

Hi Zoe

We are getting married on the beach in florida next april and the dress i have chosen is white and my BM dress is bronze.

The men will be in beige linen trousers and white shirts. I think anything goes on the beach - i had originally wanted teal for my BM but when we saw the bronze one on we all said 'wow!' So it had to be that. We're just going to keep the colours very natural and 'beachy'.

Hi Mazzy,

I'm getting married at Cypress Grove next September, i'm having my two younger sisters as bridesmaids. I'm not having too many guests there just family members.

Did you book through a travel agent or did you do it on your own?

I'm thinking of red at the moment for my bridesmaids but i'm not 100% sure.

Have you got alot more to arrange ? are you having your honeymoon in Florida?

Zoe

hi Zoe,

We booked on our own as we didn't want the travel agent package - there was nothing that appealed to us! We did some research online and drew up a shortlist of companies then picked one! as we already had a holiday booked to Florida this year (just got back) we met with Kristi (www.sunkissedweddings.com) who is organising our wedding for us, we also got to watch a similar wedding on the same beach while we were there!
We are almost organised.. having done most of the work when we were there... reception venue, videographer etc... just have to find somewhere to stay pre wedding as the house we had rented is in the middle of nowhere with closest restaurants etc being 5 - 10 minute drive and then they're very touristy!!
we are having 2 honeymoons!! My parents are coming with us and they will look after our small son while we go to Miami for a few days, then we will go back to Orlando collect the liitle man and fly with him down to Key west for a week!!
Its nice to be organised in advance as I fell I can sit back and relax a bit now rather than be all consumed by the wedding plans!!
How organised are you?

Hi Mazzy,

I'm not very organised at all, i went to a wedding show yesterday and we have decided on the color red for my bridesmaids.I think going to the show really gave us the push we needed as we hadn't completed anything, I have also emailed our wedding co ordinator Lorraine about transport as we did get alot in our package. We booked through Thomson's and get married.com. Has your little boy been to Florida before? The Keys are beautiful when me & barry went we completed a two day trip down to Miami and then they took us to the Keys so we could swim with Dolphins.
I'm going to try and get as much done as i can so that the couple of months before i can just relax.

Zoe,
Quinn is quite a little traveller - he has now been to Florida twice (he's 2!!), he's used to flying as we do cheap flights from South Coast up to my parents in the North East regularly!
He loves Florida - we just got back from 3 weeks there and he is still getting over jet lag! His favourite ride this time was ET at Universal Studios and we did a couple of overnighters at the beach which he loved.. even jumping in the rough seas at Cocoa!
We haven't been to Miami or the keys which is why we thought we would add that into our next trip... we are all parked out!!

Hi Mazzy,

So Quinn is a world traveller i bet he cant wait to go again, have you got him a little suit for the wedding?

I know what you mean about being all parked out by the time you come back you need a holiday just to chill out from the holiday you've just had.

We are having our honeymoon in Mexico as neither of us have been there before. Just trying to find a avenue for our reception when we get back, i also had the shock of my life when i saw how much the wedding cakes are, are you having a big party when you get back?

Hi Zoe

We're getting married in the Keys. We've got most things booked, the officiant, accomodation, flights etc.

We only got engaged in August (although we've been together 10 years!) and started booking everything in September. We need to sort flowers, photos and a cake, i've found suppliers just need to decide what we want.

We've not been to st petes, we did look at getting married there but really wanted to go to the keys. We visited Cocoa beach this year and that was nice.

Cypress Grove looks lovely, We considered so many places - thats why it took us a month to decide where! We've been twice to the Orlando area so decided we wanted to see a different part of florida. We're hoping to see Miami & key west and spend a few days in each place.

We're also having a party when we get back - it will be great to have 2 celebrations!

What colour have you decided for your BM's?

Hi Laurar, Congrats on your engagement, we got engaged on Christmas day last year and it has taken us 8 months to find the right place. The keys are lovely we looked at getting married at Hawks Key, but then i saw Cypress Grove and just fell in love with it.

We went to a wedidng show on Sunday and we were looking through this photographers photo album and there was a picture of a bride with two bridesmaids in Red and it looked Stunning so Red is the color.

I have emailed our wedding co ordinator as well so i can get things moving. Have you got a lot more to plan.

Hi Zoe,

i think red would look lovely. You have to see pictures to help you imagine what colours work, and also consider you BM's colouring!

We're currently trying to find a photographer for our return party. Had a few reccomendations from another site, so trying to work out costings etc.

Got to make a decision on my dress - put a deposit on one then i had a bit of a 'wobble' and went back to try some more. The lady at the shop was lovely though so we'll go back in a few weeks and decide. Also ordered some clothes for h2b and mom's partner - just linen trs and white shirts so got to try them and decide.

When do you get married?

Can you recommend things to do in Miami or the keys and what did you think of it?

Hi Ema

We're getting married in the keys in April and keeping our colours natural, golds and browns. We may tie in turquoise as well. We didn't really decide on a theme beforehand - we just found the perfect BM dress and will tie everything in with it!

Black and white looks stunning and i love some of the pink flower arrangements i've seen in magazines.

Where are you getting married?

Hi Laurar

I'm getting married on 12th September 07 at 3pm, and im having two of my sisters as bridesmaids. They like the idea of wearing red and have requested that the dresses compliment their figures. They are twins and are 15 going on 25, they are both very excited though.

The Keys are beautiful with white sandy beaches, it's very chilled out and their are plenty of places to swim with dolphins if you fancy doing that.

Miami is a good place for shopping and the nightlife is fantastic.

I have tried to find a photographer for our reception and i havnt had any luck just yet, mind you i really need to book our reception first before i go organising the photographer and the disco.

Did you fall in love with your dress the moment you tried it on ?

Hi Ema,

Black and White look fab, i saw these colors in the Wedding Ideas mag and it looks stunning. I'm getting married at The Cypress Grove as i like the idea of being married in a Garden i did however look at Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key which looks beautiful but becuase we are honeymooning in Mexico it was going to be a nightmare with flights and then i saw Cypress Grove all set up and i fell in love with it.

Where are you getting married?
Have you nearly finished your planning ?

Oh my god i have so much to do, i have only just decided to have my bridesmaids in Red. Its just i see something and then i something else and i change my mind.

Hi Zoe

No i didnt fall in love with my dress... i dont know what i expected. i went with my Mom, BM and godmother (she used to own a bridal shop so i had an expert on hand!)

It was the second one i tried on and they all went 'wow' and mom said she had a tear in her eye etc etc. i tried a few others on and although they all fitted well, they all said i looked amazing in the other one. so we put a deposit on it.

The thing is, i'm not really very 'girly' and the dress just wasn't what i expected to have. its more A line with quite a bit of skirt and i went out looking for more of a column dress.

Anyway i've tried some others and i'll make a decision when we go back in a couple of weeks. My biggest worry is if H2B will like it!!

You started dress shopping?

Hi Laura,

I know what you mean about not being very girlie i have tried to put off dress shopping for as long as i can, i'm more of a jeans and t shirt kind of girl.

I have however booked an appointment at a wedding shop for next Friday, i'm going with my other sister, ( i have three 1 who's 26 and two who are 15) my best friend and her mum.
I have just received an email this morning about the reception hall for when we get back so i have got to arrange an appointment to go and have a look. Its at the local football club, they have large rooms and the prices for hire are very reasonable.

Have you got many family and friends going to the wedding ?

Where abouts in the Keys are you getting married?

Hi Zoe

We're getting married in Islamorada - simply because its in the middle so we can go to key west and our guests only have an hour and half drive from miami airport rather than three hours if we had got married in KW as originally planned.

So far we have 11 guests in florida (not including us). Close family and my BM. I'm hoping my other friend will come, she hasn't decided yet she has 2 kids under 2 so its a big deal for her to travel all that way with them.

its good you've got your mom, sister and friend with you for dress shopping cos you'll get different opinions from different ages. Hopefully then when they all go 'wow' you'll know its the right dress - although they did that with me and i'm still unsure!Confused

How many guests are going with you? We wanted it to be small but because we're going in school holidays its too expensive for some of our friends we would have wanted there.

But the big party when we get back means we can still celebrate with everyone!

Hi Laura,

Ive not been where you are getting married, but i have never heard a bad word about the Keys.

I'm hoping that i will find the right one, but like you i'm worried whether h2b will like what i have choosen. We are all going next Friday as on a saturday it gets really busy and then they dont give you their full attention.

I have got about 14 guests coming just family really, although my sister has just told me that she is pregnant so she wont be able to come, Frown i was a little upset but really pleased as im going to be an auntie.

Have you found anywhere to hold you reception for when you get back?

Hi Zoe,

What a shame your sister won't be there! But exciting that she's having a baby!
We went dress shopping on a Monday and again on a friday and we were the only ones in the shop for a good couple of hours each time - def better to go on a week day.

We booked the reception venue before the wedding! We looked at 2 but the second one was exactly what we wanted - i'd been before as had my mom, but h2b hadn't. Its a hotel and golf club, so the men can have a round of golf before the reception while we get our nails done!!! Perfect! We've booked a band and we're meeting a photographer on Friday.

Think we'll see a couple of photographers before we decide though - its so important to get the photos right!

When are you viewing your reception venue? i think its great to have a party when you get back - something else to look forward to! and a good excuse for a chocolate fountain!

Laura
