Subject : Is anyone doing their hair/make-up themselves?

Hi Girls,
I'm just wondering if anybody else is going to do their hair and make-up? I'm on a really tight budget and we're going abroad to get married too. Ideally i'd love to get it done by a professional but i dn't have the money and i'm not able to go for a trial session either - at least i can practice by myself.

I don't really wear make-up and have my hair down most days too so it will be a challenge. I've got 222days to practice so has anyone got any suggestions? I'd like my hair up and i natural make up but don't really know what to by

Thanks,
xxx

I am also thinking of doing at least one of the two myself. I hate tying my hair up so it will have to be down. I may curl it if I can figure out how!

I'm having my hair done, I know I'll stress out too much on the day if I have to do my own! But I'm doing my own make-up. I went and had a make-over with Mum and BM's at the Benefit counter and they were fab - and we got them to use a lot of the same stuff! So we're all buying some and sharing! I don't think I could cope with someone else doing my make-up - but I'm doing Mum's and BM's are going to help each other!

i am doing my hair and a little bit of makeup im having on im doing myself too. Not one for makeup ever and thought I looked nice with hair straight and down and so did everyone else. And with me being a Hairdresser I can get it just right and how I want it and not like how the Hairdresser wants it lol.

I would suggest making some appointments at department store beauty counters (often free of charge), that way you can try different make-up on and find things that you like. With a few choice purchases and plenty of practice, I'm sure that you will be fine on the day. I have only 7 weeks to practice, but I have found some lovely Chanel make-up to use. I'm glad that I decided to do my own make-up in the end - at least you get to keep the products and use them again too!

I have now tried to reply to these 3times and the page keeps crashing!!!! grrrr.

Thnks all for your comments - much appreciated, and i'm glad i'm not on my own doing it this way!!

i love your ideas about sharing the cost of the make-up between the wedding party - thats a top tip and also helping each other out!! :) as for hair, i think i'm going to speak to my hairdresser and see if he can come up with an 'up-do' which i'll be able to do myself, or that he can show my SIL2B how to do and she can do it for me on the day. I'm not getting married until 3pm so i'm sure we'll have a few hours to perfect the look!!!!
What sort of make-up do i need to look for? i want a natural look so would you suggest like a pearlescent eyeshadow? that way it's there but it's not too bold? What does everyone think about false eyelashes too??? mine are short and stubby really :( i might have a try out at some point to see what i look like.

xx

i have heard of eyelash extensions which are suppose to be fab, they are separate lashes and you can get as many or as few as you need plus think they last about 3 weeks, so no fear of them falling out during the day. Try your local beauty salons to see if this would help.

I'm doing my own make-up - got to practise with some individual false lashes - never tried them before but hoping they'll look pretty and stay put!

That's a good idea Ruth.

I'm doing my own make up as I'm a bit funny about others doing it. I now what I like and what suits me, and after doing it for 15 years, I think I have it right! (Never been told otherwise, so I'm guessing I look ok).
As for hair, I'm having it cut and highlighted 10 days before and wash and blow dried on the morning of by a friend. I'm not having a particular style as it will be short. As long as I have some body in it I'll be ok!

I treated myself to that new Maybelline loose powder faoundation that's been all over the telly recently.. I must say, it's good stuff!
