Subject : Slimming World - Does it work for you?

Hi Ladies...

I'm trying to find a diet that will work for me - I like to graze constantly and the WW plan seemed to tight on calories :( My colleague does the slimming world and says it really does work. How can something that allows you to eat as much as you want, of certain foods, work?

Please tell me your success stories!? (or not!)

thank you

Ive got 11 weeks to lose about a stone, do you think that's achievable? plus i've been going to the gym 3 times a week.

I didn't believe it could work either. I kept thinking there must be some catch, how can you eat as much as you want of something and still loose weight! Anyway i lost nearly 2 stone so it did work and im now my ideal weight(well 2lb off but i gave up). I think it has something to do with the way your body breaks down certain foods 2gether that makes you loose weight and by restricting certain things it works. Correct me if i'm wrong anyone! Anyway give it a go,hope it works for you 2 x

rhardwick, that is definitely achievable. I absolutely hate the gym but walk my dogs.
I enjoy having pasta, rice, potatoes etc and have not cut anything out, still love and enjoy chocolate!

you should not be hungry rhardwick. slimming world say this is an eating plan not a diet! you do not neccesarily need wholegrain pasta, i have white pasta

Hi. I've been a SW member for 2 years now - when you stick to it the diet really works, but I had to get rid of my traditional idea of a diet in order to follow it totally as i also didnt think you could eat that much and loose weight!

Hiya

Me and my mum joined Nov last year. I've lost 1.5st and mum has lost just over 3stone!
Its REALLY easy..i am such a fussy eater...dont eat ANY FRUIT OR VEG (god know how i don't have scurvy my mum says?!) and it works for me.. i always thought u had to live on salad and steamed veg to lose weight but soooo not true!

I am 10lb away from target now but will def keep going as i kno i'll prob pile it on without the support of the group... we have such a laugh at our group its like a mini nite out! haha xx

Hey everyone, I am joining slimming world tonight and feel so much better about it now.. I eat quite a lot and have about 3 stone to loose, im getting married in October, so I dont anticipate loosing it all by then but want to give it a good go...

I had an operation 2 weeks ago, so cannot do any exercise at the moment and have been signed off work so have found myself sitting at home.. eating!!

I can't understand myself really as our wedding is going to be one of the biggest days of my life..but I just havent felt motivated at all! Have to start now or I never will.. but ready blogs on this website has certainly helped me get motivated!

Anyway, congratulations to you all with your weight losses so far and Ill let you know how I get on!

It is really good, I joined with my mum as she didn't want to join on her own and I wanted to lose my university weight follwing 3 years of drinking cider and black (pints of!). The first week I ate loads more than I would normally eat in the day and lost 5lbs1 It really does work, I lost the weight I wanted to (Only a stone) but still follow the principles of the diet now, although not as rigidly, and i think I always will as you don't have to sacrifice the foods you love and you're not always eating rabbit food asH2B calls salad. Once you have gotten your head around it it's so easy! The great thing is you can still go out for meals, it's not a diet that affects your social life like so many do. Best of luck with your weight loss x x

Hey all, just come back from the weigh in.. not as bad as I thought!

My group leader seems a bit of a weird one.. and it was a man who weighed me... but the ladies in the group all seemed lovely!

Hope everyone has had good days today X

Hi Everyone!!

I joined slimming world 9 weeks ago and have lost 2stone 1lb so far! It really does seem to be working for me and i'm feeling very proud of myself!
I'm so determined - want to get married in 2010 so aiming to get down to a size 14/16 by then - fingers crossed! I started off at a size 24 so if i keep going the way i am then it should be ok!!

Would def recommend SW to anyone who needs/wants to lose weight - im feeling so much better about myself already!

xx

Happy

I keep thinking of joining Slimming World. I have a disc with all the info on but I've read through it and it seems quite confusing so I'm wondering if I need to join a class to have someone explain it all to me.

I could do without the added expense of going to a slimming club at the moment though because all our spare money is having to go towards the wedding otherwise there won't be one!

Well done sparkly carly... wow thats an amazing weight loss, you deserve to be really proud of yourself!!

Do you mostly do red or green days? The green days would suit me better I think but I have heard people tend to loose more when they do a lot of red... Any other tips you have for me?

Smiley Shazza, have a look on the SW website, they offer a 7 day free trial which sets out menus for you... may be of some help if you cant manage to get to a meeting?

Good luck!

Thanks RWRW2B!

I tried SW before when my son was a yr old but i don't think i was ready then and def wasnt determined like i am now!

This time round just seems to different, don't get me wrong it was hard at first and for the first 2 weeks all i could think about was food and what i could eat next! lol - you soon get use to it.

I always do green days - i think in 9 weeks ive only done maybe 5 red days! I love jacket pots, rice, pasta etc so its good as you can eat as much as you like of those and then just a small portion on meat which works well for me.

I use to snack on crisps and biscuits but we dont buy anything like that anymore - i tend to buy snack a jacks and go ahead biscuits so if i get a craving i can snack on something which is slighty more healthy and low in syns! (my poor 3 yr old gets lots of diet food and snacks - bless him!!)

If im hungry between meals i eat fruit and lots of it and i would say just try and eat regular meals and healthy snacks inbetween. its easier to keep track of what your eating and your syns if you write it all down - although that can be time consuming.

i did find it hard to eat regularly at first ( im a staff nurse so work stupid shifts) but i have managed to find a way to fit it in somehow although have to admit to skipping meals sometimes if workin etc......

anymore questions you need to ask or advice i could offer - would love to help - same goes tho - im no expert so am happy to take all the support and help i can get in this!
