Subject : Wedding Gift List for 2010 brides

Hi girls,

Hope your all well and enjoying the gorgeous sunny weather.

I know were all getting married in 2010 and its a bit off yet, but I've already found myself thinking about the gift list. I'm sure the majority of you will be in the smae position as me and my H2B in that, you have a house, pay the bills and have a toaster a kettle and all the usual house stuff. So other than asking for money - has anyone had any other ideas?

So far I have thought of Trailfinders Vouchers/Travel Agent Vouchers, that way your holiday for 2011 will be practically paid for - depending on your wedding numbers!!

........... xx

Hi funlovinlynz,
Yeah, we've been wondering that as well. I think we're gonna go for travel agent vouchers but sayin that in a couple of years we'll prob be redecorating and start replacing some things in the house anyway so I'm not so sure now :-)
Ohh, decisions decisions!

I have just found out that Kuoni also offer a wedding list service (vouchers I would imagine)...they have the most fantastic resorts!

Confetti do a giftcard - one of those prepay Maestro ones - for which you create a website detailing what you'd spend it on. It works in the same way as a list but you can choose things from any shop - you just upload and people can either contribute towards a certain item, buy a whole item or just put some cash on the card. It seems like a good way to get round the problem that some older guests may find vouchers/cash vulgar. It means that you can put anything on from flying lessons to kitchenware to an antique that you've had your eye on, without people worrying that you'll spend the money on groceries or something boring like that!

Gift lists scare me a bit because I've known people who have had really extravagant ones & omg how bad does it seem when the cheapest thing is over £200?! Also a friend of mine is going to a wedding where they've asked to contribute money to a "conservatory fund"... she's a bit gutted as she only knows the groom & the couple getting married earn more individually than her & her boyfriend earn together! So yeah, what's ok to ask for? Razz xx

m121 - why is the conservatory fund a problem (other than the age-old issue of asking for cash)? Surely it's irrelevant what the bride and groom earn? If they really want a conservatory, then whatever people are willing to contribute as a gift will be a million times more welcome than Jamie Oliver's back catalogue or a toaster? What better present could you get someone than what they really really want?
