This may seem very petty compared to some of the posts on here, but it's beginning to upset me and so I thought I'd write it down.
Basically my H2B is a lovely caring guy who I adore and can't wait to marry, but he is absolutely rubbish at saying all the nice things that make a girl feel special. I am always saying to him how gorgeous he is, and how much I love him. He never ever compliments me on my looks - even when i've made an effort. Our sex life is pretty non existant, I even put on the sexy lingery the other night and went into the living room dressed like that, he laughed and said it looked uncomfortable and went back to watching the TV. I'm a size 10 - but admittedly do have a bit of a tummy - his nickname for me is "porker". First I found it funny, but now I'm upset, he never says anything complimentary about me and it's making me feel insecure about myself and looks. I spoke to him about his lack of compliments a couple of months ago, he said at the time "don't be silly you're lovely" and that was that. It hasn't changed anything. I don't want to say it again as then he will have to say something nice and it will be forced.
I just sometimes wonder why he's with me. When we first met, I was the one who approached him, not the other way round, so I've never felt like he specially picked me. Before he proposed we had talked about marriage several months ago, so I feel like I put the idea into his head.
sorry for the rant. I just feel low and needed to get it off my chest.

Wish I could be a size 10. Your h2b sounds delightful...not. that's not nice laughing at you especially since you made the effort to wow him. Also sounds like you're the only one who initiates sex in your relationship.Sounds harsh but are you sure he wants to get married? It just sounds as though he doens't want to make any effort into making you feel special and loved or cared for. I know you say he is a loving a caring bloke, but then he isn't showing any interest at all in your relationship. I mean turning away from having a romantic and fun night for the tellie??? Maybe have a good heart to heart with him about your actual relationship as it could be something else that is making you feel undesirable rather than the fact that he doens't tell you how nice you look. And stop telling him how gorgoeous he is all the time. See how he likes it. But seriously though, have a good heart to heart. if he truly cares for you then he will take time to listen to you and help you through any insecurities or relationship difficulties. you need to get it off your chest to your h2b - and get cross and upset if that's what is needed, it might make him sit up a bit - it seems he doesn't see how serious it has got.

I mentioned to h2b that he seemed to have stopped telling me he loves me or that even his annoying habit of kissing me on the neck(which I hate) whilst I'm cooking. it helped him see that even though things have evolved and we are now comfortable with each other, that it doesn't hurt to do some of the stuff we did at the start.

He has now resumed his neck kissing and I find it doesn't bother me that much any more!

size 10 tummy or not your no porker you are lovely size, i would find it totally soul destroying if that underwear incident had happened to me. How long have you been together? is it only recently sex life has slowed down. I am not suprised you don't feel special..I have to agree though that maybe getting angry and speaking your mind is what is needed here?? hope your ok, poor you

Thanks girls for your replies, I feel justified in being upset now! I will have a word with him over the weekend. I can't tonight as we're going to a friends house. I don't know how to approach it without sounding spoilt/needy etc? Our sex life has gradually slowed down over the last year. We've been together for 2 and 1/2 years.

Who cares if you sound spoilt or needy, you will sound upset and he will realise that. don;t plan how to say it, just say how you feel.....fingers crossed for you hun x

I really don't think you sound spoilt or needy what so ever. It is your h2b's job to tell you just how gorgeous you are and how much he loves you. Approach the subject with him from the heart and go from there. Good luck and let us know how you go.
