Subject : Hair Colouring Appts - Timing?

Just wondered for those who colour their hair, how soon before the wedding are you getting your colour done. i get married 4 weeks tomorrow and have booked to have my highlights done this wednesday just because i cant hold off any longer really, as its my hen do next sat and my roots are halfway down my head! but i think i may need mt colour doing again before the wedding as don`t want any rootage showing on day, so was thinking about booking in on the wednesday before the wedding (4 days before).

Do you think this sounds ok, or is there not long enough between my appts? x

Hi Nina I think that sounds okay to me.. I get an all over block colour and am getting that done a week before the wedding.. was going to get it done 2 days before but then changed my mind as for the first few days the colour comes out in the shower and don't want any dye on a white dress! :)

Hi NinaC, I asked my colourist when I should have my highlights done and she recommended 2-3 weeks before the wedding (depending on how fast your hair grows) to led the highlights bed in so to speak, said colour is best after this time x x

Hiya

I am getting a semi-perm colour gloss put thu my hair about 2 weeks before wedding, will give the colour chance to calm down.

I think that sounds fine for ur highlights, you might not have much re-growth between the two appointments but better to do that than get ur wedding pics back and regret it! xx

thanks girls for your replies, if i had thought on i would have had them done earlier than next week but i have just been so skint i couldn`t afford to, i think with highlights i will be ok a few days before as its not the same as with a block colour, just another quick question, for those who only have a half a head of highlights like me, i was wanting my hair half up, do you think i should have a full head of highlights so the hair underneath does not look really dark or just stick with my usual half a head?!! xx

I have a full colour put on and am having it done 9 days before the wedding, just long enough, so I don't end up with any dye on my dress!

when you go to the salon show your hairdresser how you will be wearing your hair as she may put a few foils in different places x x

hi Nina, im a hairdresser, i would def say have full head hi-lites before, as for your colours being done that close together, its fine as long as you ont have bleach, we recommend usually to have your colour done 2 weeks b4 the wedding as gives hair time to settle down after( takes about 2 weeks for the protien in your hair to reharden after chemical treatments ,ie colours/perms) if money has/is a bit tight why dont you just put your hair up for your hen do then have your roots done 2 weeks before, x hope that helps xx Debi xx
