I am paying £875 from church to dance but my edited highlights are included! This is where he/she picks out the best, most romantic or funny bits and puts them to music at the end.
I havent been offered the copyright, may have to ask about that!!
Hope this helps!!

Edited highlights, are cuts of the best footage put together in a separate stream. It's different from having a whole video of every little bit of the wedding.
I personally think the edited highlights are more fun to watch, especially for others!
If you have the copyright then you can distribute the video. If you don't, you can't, unless you come to an agreement with the videographer.
I've seen quotes that really vary - like photography quotes I guess. Some will charge a few hundred, others will charge a couple of thousand. It depends on quality, the reputation of the videographer, what is being offered, and so on.

i haven't shopped around much, so i don't know how much other people cost.
i do know that video clubs often film weddings for much less-my uncle is doing mine, and his video club charge £450 for 4 people to film all day-could be worth looking into?

Mine is £675 for the following (stolen from the website!!)
Filming the Bride and Groom leaving for the church. We film the guests arriving in the Church or Registry and continue right through to the first dance (9.30pm) using two professional DV cameras. We will interview the Best man, Parents and close friends (optional with no extra cost). Edited with music of your choice, special effects and on screen titles and end credits. Full DVD menu included.
It probably depends on your area as well. I am in the North West

I'm in the NW too and had put the idea of a videographer to the back of my mind as all the ones I liked were over a grand and a half!
Who is this one you speak of?!

Our videographer is charging £600, we qualified for the cheaper cost because we're getting married on a Friday and its at the end of March which they still class as winter!
They start filming at 11am right through to 11pm, so 12 hours, which is a fab price for that length of filming.
We get a storybook at the beginning where he puts pictures of us from childhood through to when we met, the films everything, then goes round to people at the reception and gets them to say a few words about us, then does the highlights at the end and then does rolling credits with all the wedding party names etc, we also have to give him 5 songs to put on it too.
We get 2 dvd's in that cost and then any extra dvd's are £15 each.
Im in Essex by the way, so i think you should shop round a bit cos what youve been quoted sounds really steep!
Good luck!

This is a breakdon of what we are getting and the charges.
Filming on the day from half an hour before the ceremony up until your last speech at your formal reception (this is usually around 5 hours - 2.30pm - 7.30pm) £465.00
Filming your evening celebrations to include first dance, Elvis tribute and fireworks from 7.30pm to 10.30pm at £45.00 per hour - £135.00
Edited Highlight as seen on our website £50.00
Copies on VHS/DVD £20.00 each
That comes to £650 and then the cost of however many dvd's we need.

Im having Cameron Erroch do my photo's and video and for both its costing £950 and you get Both Photography and Video starting from your place of marriage capturing all the big day events up to 8pm.A 40 page wedding album including all photographic proofs and images on CD-Rom in full size and copyright free. The dvd is edited down with background music and slow motion clips. He is based in Renfrewshire but also covers, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Ayrshire, i think im getting a really good deal.
Fairyqueen i think you can get the video cheaper than that if you shop about it tool me ages but i found ones which were doing it for £535 and he did it from place of marriage right up to the first 3 dances. I would suggest to keep looking
