Wedding date close to a friends wedding

I don't think so. We set our date for this August, and booked it all back in June last year. In January of this year our friends approached us and asked whether they could get married the weekend before us, as it was the only available date their venue had left for this year. We live in the south of England, and their wedding will be in York, 7 hours drive away and we had a number of guests overlapping - and no one minded at all. Why don't you ask those guests that will attend both whether they would find it to be too much? The only other question would be whether this other couple might accuse you of 'stealing their thunder' as our friends were worried we would feel that way. They were very wrong of course, and I am sure, if you explain the situation, everyone will understand that it is difficult for you to find dates. Congratulations, and the best of luck,
