Is it unfair to invite guests without a plus-one?

me and my fiance have recently decided to bring forward our wedding by 3 years to this january! unfortunately being students we are very poor and i need to buy a dress, the ceremony will be in a registry office, with very limited numbers of guests. i need something informal but bridey, preferably under £80 and not floor length.

They also do less traditional "prom" dresses in a range of lengths, styles and colours

TK Maxx have started doing wedding dresses, they had a lovely black and white "fairytale" style one in Leeds the other day for under your budget!

Hi there,
I had the same dillema as I don't have £1, 500 for a wedding dress which is what most bridal shop seem to cater for. Luckily winter is normally ball gown/ dress season so I picked up a white/ silvery dress for £200! I did see this gorgeous short white dress in Coast store a beautiful short, v neck ivory silk dress with a subtle black lace belt reduced from £135 t o £75. It didn't have my size but perhaps you have better luck! Coast is a very good store so if you are tight on money and want a glam dress I certainly reccommend it http://www.coast-stores.com
Good luck!

dress problems

My Duaghter got married in August this year.We bought her wedding dress from Pronuptia in Stirling in June 2006. The dress and all accessories had been paid for in full by June this year and were due to be collected on July 19th.
By chance we discovered that the store had closed down and all stock had been removed on the 13th July. No explanation, no notice in the window , nothing.
Through help from trading standards we were redirected to the nearest Pronuptia store in Glasgow, who we had been assured had all the gowns. Needless to say there was no sign of my daughters dress.
Pronuptia HQ were less than helpful and would take no liability as they only sell the name to Franchisee and the right to buy their gowns.
As the wedding was imminent and all parties to leave for the wedding venue on July 21st , we were left with no alternative but to go out and buy another gown etc .

To cut a long story short, I passed to matter onto my credit card company to pursue a refund as I had paid part of the cost of the original dress on my credit card.
I have spent the past couple of months chasing various parties for further information re the dress , for the credit card company and low and behold this weekend I have traced the dress to a seamstress , where it languishes unaltered ( despite 1st fitting in Pronuptia , and having paid for the alterations back in May)
What do I do now? The dress is no longer fit for its original purpose, as the wedding has taken place. Any advice on where I will stand with the credit card refund would be gratefully received. Why should I have to bear the cost of selling it,(if I can ) ,probably for a fraction of the original purchase price.

I am so frustrated and chessed off with it all.
