Choosing the venue for your reception is one of the most important decisions you'll make in the run-up to your wedding. It's where you'll spend the majority of your wedding day and where many important events such as the speeches, cake cutting and first dance will take place, so it's important to find the perfect location
Take a list of questions to all suppliers before you book and separate the questions into those of major importance to you, and those where you are prepared to be flexible. If your venue doesn't tick the boxes for your crucial questions, it's probably time to look elsewhere.
- Are we able to bring in our own alcohol? If so, what is the corkage charge?
- Are there disabled facilities?
- Can you cater for our specific dietary requirements?
- Are any other weddings taking place on the same day as ours?
- Do you allow firework displays?
- What time will the evening need to finish? Can we have a late bar?
- Are we allowed to light candles in the evening?
- What time can guests check in on the day of the wedding (for hotels) and out the morning afterwards?
- Are there any noise restrictions? (ie, can we have a live band?)
- Do we have to use your preferred suppliers or can we use our own choice of florist, caterer etc?
