Q: I am torn between having a sleek up-do with a side parting with all the hair tied up in a high bun or a ‘half-up-half-down’ style with a small beehive effect on top and the rest hanging loose. Will it look too severe if it’s all up?

Andrew Collinge: I wouldn't worry that wearing your hair up will be too severe, as it's possible to dress hair up with some fullness and softness. The second option, half up half down, can be equally effective although you have to be careful that the hair which is down doesn't 'drop' and look lank later in the day. My suggestion would be to go to a salon or stylist that specialises in dressing hair up and try wearing both options before you decide.

Q: Over the summer, I completely ruined my hair by bleaching, dying, and over-straightening. What can I do to get my hair looking back to normal for my wedding in February?

Andrew Collinge: Nearer the wedding day and when your hair is in better condition, you could try a semi-permanent colour to enhance the depth of your colour and to create extra shine and vitality. Be careful not to go too dark, just half a shade darker than your natural colour is enough.

Q: Do you have any tips to help me grow my hair? Also, my hair tends to lose its shine in winter - any tips to keep it in good condition all year round?

Andrew Collinge: Try the Complete Moisture shampoo and 1 Minute Wonder treatment from my haircare range to infuse extra moisture into the hair. A very light trim to dust off the split ends every 12 weeks will help encourage stronger hair and healthier growth.

Q: My hair is fairly short and I wear it in a bob. Any ideas on something different for my wedding?

Andrew Collinge: A very effective technique would be to tie your hair back neatly into the nape and fix a hairpiece which can be dressed into a stylish chignon bun. Otherwise you could simply straighten your bob for a super sleek finish and tuck your hair behind your ears and dress with a hairband.

Q: For my big day I'd love to have some big Hollywood bouncy shiny hair that I can wear with my tiara and veil. My problem is my hair never keeps its volume and using hairspray can make it dull and crispy. What's the secret?

Andrew Collinge: Try tonging your hair rather than using rollers. This technique should give you the body and the hold you require. Make sure your stylist uses a firm hold styling product, and finish with a hairspray which is non-sticky. Try my Weightless Volume Thickening Hairspray.

Q: One of my bridesmaids has long hair while the other has her hair cut into a very short bob. How should they could style their hair on the day?

Andrew Collinge: If your bridesmaids all have different hair types and lengths, it might be easier to unite them through a similar hair accessory rather than a style.

Q: I have recently overcome cancer, however as you can imagine my hair has had a rather rough time because of treatments and medication. How can I get nice hair for my wedding when it is so fine at the moment?

Andrew Collinge: Rather than try to straighten it, it may be best to softly set it. I suggest having your hair blow dried first to create a full, smooth finish and then gently tonged to create soft waves. By using this technique you will be able to wear your hair down and with the help of hairspray, your hair should behave itself all day.
