Bridal body image – our survey results revealed
You won’t believe how much time, effort and money you’re spending to look your best!
If you’re getting married this year, you’re likely to spend £1,063 on looking your gorgeous best for your big day, according to our recent online survey. You’re not content anymore with a simple visit to the hairdressers and a manicure on the day of the wedding, now you’re prepared to spend up to 18 months dieting, training, and having cosmetic surgery to ensure there isn’t a single unflattering photo in your wedding album.
Of the 300,000 plus women expected to get married this year, 91% of you intend to lose weight and 36% hope to completely alter your body shape through diet and exercise. 7% of you are planning to have cosmetic surgery on your nose, 8% are preparing for breast enlargements and 5% will be having a breast reduction.
67% of you say you weren’t happy with your appearance before deciding to get married and that your wedding is the push you need to make you do something about it. 22% of you are perfectly happy with the way you looked before your engagement but now feel under pressure to look even better in time for the wedding day.
Over half (53%) of you intend to drop one dress size and 25% hope to drop two to fit into your dream wedding gown.
Chat room star Shoegal from London, who is getting married in May says:
“I’m only going to get married once and I want everything to be perfect, so spending money on making sure I look my best is an essential part of the wedding budget. I’ve been working on a healthy diet and exercise plan for the last 12 months and have managed to hit my optimum weight. I’ve also booked in for a course of microdermabrasion to improve my skin, and will be having a fake tan, manicure, pedicure and eyelash extensions for the big day!
Along with hair and make-up, by the time we get married I will have spent about £1,500 on looking good. This is the one day when a woman wants to feel the most beautiful that she ever has, and if that takes a little bit of help along the way, then so be it!"
